“Well, there’s nothing here. Trust me.”
“Damn it. This is the third place that I’ve searched and come up empty.”
“I’m not over dramatic. I just like things to be in a certain way, that’s all.” Ebony defended with a grin.
"Yep, over dramatic." Avery teased with a grin. "So what happens if I were to do this..."Â She questioned nudging some of her belongings and moving them.
“You’re doing it wrong.” She rolled her eyes; taking the fishing net from them. “You need the thread the strings so it’s stronger.”
"Okay then little Miss Know It All, how would you suggest I do it? "
“Do you need something?”
"I was just checking for supplies?"
“What the hell did you do that for!?”
"You shouldn't have been going through my stuff."

Avery was born as an only child and she often missed the comfort of having a brother or sister to keep her company but her parents made up for it. Growing up her father was her hero, the person who was always doing right when everyone else was doing wrong. Until the accident which killed both her parents. Before the crash, everything had been easier. While Avery’s parent’s weren’t the most affectionate, or the most available, they certainly did love their daughter. They didn’t exactly encourage her choice in getting a job instead of focusing on her studies, but when it came down to it they’d be there to support their daughter. Taking on her first job at fourteen, Avery started waitressing at a local diner, helping to pick up enough money that she could really start helping out at home. Everyone noticed the change in attitude after her parents died, she’d become a shell of her former self; quiet, observant, but most of all, sad. Foster care was a rude awakening for Avery’s naivety. The families she bounced around were cold and foreign, always people who’s want for a child didn’t include teenage potheads. That was until she was taken in by her final foster family who seemed determined to help the girl and try get her back on track and off the bad habits.

When the majority of England and the United Kingdom became infected Avery’s new family made the decision to pack up all their belongings and get to wherever was deemed the most safest. However that wasn’t what happened, as they arrived at the airport terminal in America after finally escaping the hell back home they landed to find the majority of the runway and airport itself to be overrun with the infected. Avery and her foster sister got separated from the rest of the family while trying to escape from a group of infected that had caught sense of the two. During their time together her sister kept trying to persuade Avery to go in search for their missing family, however her main priority was to get the younger girl to safety knowing it was the least she could do after all the family had done for her. When the brunette fell asleep one night, she woke up to the younger girl no longer being there, leaving her alone yet again.

Using her height and other aspects of both her personality and her physical appearance, Avery knows exactly how to lighten shops or people from their possessions and several other belongings. She is a professional master thief and by the time they realize that their holdings are missing, the young female is usually long gone. Avery still fears that everyone she comes across will be the same as the people from her past and eventually get rid of her so she figures hurt them before they hurt her. Avery is extremely independent; it was hard not to be considering she’s been pretty much on her own for the past few years. She finds it difficult to ask other for help or accept help when it’s offered, even when she needs it. Avery would much rather deal with things by herself, in her own way.

“Ooh, I’m so sorry for not tolerating your abuse. How long have you known me? Since forever? And you’re gonna treat me that way. Shameful, Cal. Just shameful.” Hadley shook his head in mock-disappointment, sighing dramatically. He pointedly ignored her laughter, though didn’t defend himself either. He knew how overprotective her dad could be and it made him thankful that his mother mostly let him do what he wanted, as long as he returned home. He did chuckle lightly before responding, “that sounds like him. I’m surprised you would sneak out, though. I thought you were a good kid.” He narrowed his eyes as he watched her turn, knowing she was just pretending. Quickly he stuck out his arm, placing his hand on her other shoulder to keep her from turning around fully. “Nuh-uh, you’re stuck with me. As long as you promise not to make me wait for you to grab a teddy bear or stand around while you look at bugs.”
"Good, you should be. It definitely feels that way, and let me tell you forever is a bloody long time when it comes to being your friend." She sighed dramatically. "Treat you what way? I have no idea what you're talking about Hadley, I'm nothing but an angel to you." As if to prove her point she placed her doe eyed innocent look that she usually saved for her father, though these time she couldn't keep a straight face as a wide grin began to replace it. "I swear he's getting worse. I dread to think what lengths he'll go to eventually. I don't think he wants to admit that I'm growing up, he wants to keep me his innocent little girl forever. I'm going to repeat your words back at you here, how long have you known me? Good kid, really Hadley?" She smirked raising a brow. "Talk about giving a girl mixed signals, sheesh. I can't keep up." She stuck her tongue out at him childishly before a look of confusion fell upon her face and her brows furrowed not understand what he meant. "Why would I be grabbing a teddy bear or looking at bugs? That's just weird." She was pretty sure her face matched her thoughts, looking at him as if he was a complete weirdo.

He was just about to tell her it was fine when he saw the same look on her face as her mother always did when she wanted something. He could tell what she was up to, and it had Avery written all over her. “You’ve mother told you to do that didn’t she?”
Callie froze and her eyes widened in shock at being caught out, thinking fast she put on an innocent look smiling at her father "Psh, no. No, of course not. I have no idea what you're talking about." She kept looking around the room to avoid making eye contact with her father.
Callie had just been trying to help, trying to do something to make it better but it hadn’t helped. They had been too weak when they were rushed through her camp's gates, blood pooling from their wounds and skin pale, she hadn't known what to do and was never to know that they would never had made it through the night no matter how much experience she had. Their blood covered her clothes and hands as she sobbed, scared and feeling guilty.Â
"Hey. Hey let go of me. Put me down. What the hell?"

“Hey, you started this. If you’re going to make fun of me for being tall, I’ll make fun of you for being a shortie.” Hadley teased, glancing at her when she caught up with him. “Well, we can’t all be blessed with great genes.” He sighed, face blank for a moment before his expression gave way to a smile. Hadley was quite the jokester, rarely did he ever take anything seriously. “A tree house I found the other day. I’ve just got to get out of camp, my sisters are driving me crazy.” He confessed, then narrowed his eyes at Callie. “Then of course you just had to tag along.”
"Buzz kill. You know I gotta take out my sarcasm and wit on someone, Noah's too little so you're what I'm left with and you're ruining it." Callie scoffed pouting as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Yeah, you keep telling yourself that." She burst out laughing unable to even attempt to keep a straight face. "I know that feeling, I swear my dad is one step away from locking me in my room so I can never leave camp. He's so damn over protective, I've had to resort to sneaking out now." She sighed annoyed, she understood why her dad was worried but it didn't mean that she had tto like it. "Ouch big guy, that hurts. Here was me thinking that we were friends... I'll just be taking my leave then." Callie faked a sad look as she looked down at the floor turning her body slightly as if she were about to change direction.
