She nods softly. "Flowers are nice."

"Yeah… I don't know… I don't feel like I— grieve her?… I mean, we were close, friends even… I miss her sometimes… But I don't think that's the same? I miss my mom too sometimes, and I'm glad she's dead." He chuckles. "I'm not glad Gertrude's dead… So that's something, I guess. It just feels… Hollow…"

I think my favorite thing that I have included in my project Hail Mary fanfiction is that eridians come out of their eggs soft And they build up their carapace into the hard rock like outer shell that adults have over the course of a (human) year. So baby eridians are textured More along the lines of calloused skin.... Which means Grace's squishy human body just reads as extremely baby and cute to all of the eridians He interacts with.

Once they get home, Odysseus splits off to get some food started for them all. Telegonus drifts to the dining room to wait. If he could just… help him not be scared anymore…

"Hey, are you okay?” Telemachus asks from across the table; he didn't even notice him…

"Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out what could help Dad… My mother would know what to do, but it won't be safe to see her again until winter is over, so I need something we can do until I can take him home."

"… Help him?" Telemachus cocks an eyebrow. "Can he even… be helped?"

"Yeah, I think so… Why not? If we can figure out what makes him… ah… change, we can better control how often it happens," Telegonus offers

Telemachus pauses as he thinks about it. "That… That could actually work… I don't really know how, but we can figure that out," He agrees.

"Well, we know one thing that freaks him out. He doesn't like us fighting, so if we spar, which we should do again, that was really fun… We just don't do it around him," Telegonus smiles, "And probably warn him first so he doesn't come out and see that we are and freak out."

"Alright… That can be done…" Telemachus agrees.

He nods, "Easy."
