Welcome to SandrockTober 2025! In the spirit of Inktober's annual prompts, I created a "My Time at Sandrock" inspired art challenge. For those familiar with the general rules of "Inktober", you probably already know how this goes.
For anyone new: SandrockTober is intended to be a creative challenge that takes place during the month of October where each day is a new prompt to inspire your creation of the day! There's no competition, no real deadline, and you're free to just do as many of these as you can handle.
I'll be reblogging any piece submitted either through tagging us or using the #sandrocktober tag. The only real rules are to make sure no inappropriate content is submitted and that no AI or other forms of stolen work are posted.
Whether its traditional, digital, or whatever else you use as an art form, I'd would love to see what you make in the spirit of creating something fun that brings the community together!
The challenge officially begins on October 1st, which is when I will start reblogging all posts submitted.
Have a fun October!
papercraft logan time!

image is 2 screenshots from the movie Up. In the first, Carl says to Russell, "I would like to award you the highest honor i can bestow." In the second, we see a pin on Russell's sash. The pin has been edited to read, "a fanart for your fic"
1, 11, 29, 32!!! āø(ļ½”Ė įµ Ė )āøā”
ty for sending some in anon!
1: How many WIPs do you currently have?
haha....hahaha......
actively trying to work on: just sharp knives, soft edges (My Time at Sandrock, Logan/M!Builder) and better left unsaid (Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dorian/M!Lavellan)
but if we count all of the outlines & partially drafted things in my drive, there's uhhhh (counts frantically) ten to fifteen depending on whether I lump series installments together or not. oops!
11: Do you outline your fics before writing them?
yessss I am about as far on the outliner side of the spectrum as you can be. outlining is like my favorite part of the writing process so my outlines are also LONGGGG like I half-draft scenes in there. the outline for the rest of skse is over 30k words haha....ha....ha
29: What fic are you least proud of?
aside from the ones I orphaned off of my account years ago, probably the nsfw sequel to you have to know that by now (My Time at Portia, Arlo/M!Builder). i shan't link it directly. but it's there. I just don't think it's very well-written and I am also very shy about sharing nsfw writing lmao, it's basically only still on my account as proof to myself that i can upload mediocre porn and nobody will be mean to me about it
32: Out of all your fics, what is your favorite title?
already answered this one! :)
For the fanfic author asks thing:
13, 32 & 37 :)
teehee ty for sending some in :^)
13: Have you ever made a playlist for a fic? (Share?)
yes probably too many lmao. my playlist for you have to know that by now was probably the first time I made a playlist for a WIP as I wrote it, but in the (checks notes) christ, six years since then, it's become part of my writing process whether I like it or not. that one's about 2 hrs long and includes almost entirely songs I don't like anymore so I won't subject anyone to that lmfao
....in comparison, my playlist for sharp knives, soft edges is a whopping 12 hrs and 7 minutes long (!!!) bc I've been working on this fic for over 2 years now and I add songs to it whenever I find something that fits the vibe. some highlights include:
Bright by Lilli Furfaro
Relatively Good by Mel Bryant & the Mercy Makers
Better in the Morning by Birdtalker
sloppy by KiNG MALA (extremely relevant for the next chapter)
To Be Alone by Hozier
i hope you know what you're doing by KiNG MALA
Dry Heave by Tiger Really
Dancing After Death by Matt Maeson
32: Out of all your fics, what is your favorite title?
ik nobody here follows me for dragon age shit (check out @serjory for more of that) but I'm working on a DA fic called better left unsaid right now :^) I think the title is short and sweet while fitting the tone & themes of the fic so I'm pretty proud of that one
37: Favorite genre?
listennn i'm a simple man and i love a good love story. if I were to get hyper-specific about it though, I love exes to lovers and i really love a love story where everything gets worse before it gets better.
(don't.... don't worry about what's coming up in skse. it's fine. everything is fine.)

Yippee first fic ever is up! After many many years of saying I'd never start posting a fic until it was finished I decided to just go for it anyway and hope it will give me the motivation to finish something for once. Enjoy!

Any idiot can like something thats good. It takes a real genius to like things that suck ass
So I'm not very good at interiors but I wanted to draw The Hug from @glitter-gel-pens's sharp knives, soft edges. I think it's fairly decent, but for funsies here's a simpler background-less version as well.
I also did a general prep sketch for height and getting a sense of the OC builder's hair (and I love drawing hair).
HOLY SHIT THAT'S MY SON !!! You did such a good job, literally nailed it, tysm šā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø it's so cool to see how someone else visualizes him hehe
i'm practicing i swear
