I watched The Summer I Turned Pretty yesterday. Great show loved it. Didn’t like the ending. Team Jellyfish all the way. Also, I didn’t read the books so this is 100% based on just the TV series.

So @welllpthisishappening is an extremely talented individual who has created a world that I am utterly obsessed with. Plus it is super nice of Laura to let me flail with her over fictional Rangers and the actual Rangers, and a lot of things in general.

Anyway, Tripping Over The Blue Line has to be one of my favourite verses and one day I decided to start making some edits and these are some I am particularly proud of. I don’t know why I’ve only just decided to post them but yeah.

Words cannot explain how happy I am that Castle drops on Hulu this week!!! One of my absolute favorite shows. I cannot wait to rewatch!

Bay really got done dirty for most of Switched At Birth. By so many. One boyfriend enlists in the army without telling her, one cheats on her. Her bio mom makes so little an effort to actually BE her mom, unlike Daphne, who’s bio parents do nothing BUT try to be there for her and make up for all the time they lost–not to mention that Bay’s bio mom KNEW about her, and made the decision not to try to get her back, or even have any sort of contact with her. Her grandmother turns on her once she finds out about the switch, gives the cameo she’d always intended to give to Bay to Daphne, because “she’s blood” and makes so many racist and bigoted comments about Bay because she’s part Puerto Rican, and Grandma “can’t help seeing her differently.” Her parents always assume the worst in her, and never give her the benefit of the doubt, even going so far as to blame her for things that happen that are absolutely not her fault. She takes the fall for Daphne so she can go to medical school, and this ends up ruining all of her life plans, and ends up with a criminal record for something she didn’t even do. 

Not to mention she gets r*ped by her ex, and gets called a liar and whore and all sorts of other horrible things, he tries to pressure her into telling the school board that he didn’t in fact r*pe her (even though he did) and then has this whole sob story of “I got kicked out of school and can’t get a good job because you wouldn’t take it back,” and tries to make her feel guilty about his circumstances–and then her CLOSE FRIEND ends up in a relationship with him, and Bay is just supposed to be okay with it because her friend is going through a hard time (sorry, it’s still not okay to date the person who sexually assaulted your friend, no matter what’s going on in her life; but then again, MB basically said it was Bay’s fault for getting so drunk anyway, so are we really surprised?). 

She just gets constantly dumped on throughout the show, and made out to be this horrible person, or a whiny, spoiled brat, when really…Bay is the one that never fit in, was always searching, and when she finally got answers, was essentially told “Too bad, get over it, move on,” and wasn’t really allowed any time to grieve the life she should have had or process what happened to her. She’s just supposed to smile and deal with it, and she’s constantly compared to Daphne and basically told how much she falls short several times. And it’s all just really unfair, and I really feel for her.

This post is so accurate. I’m in the middle of a rewatch and everyone treats Bay horribly and they act like Daphne is a saint. I actually cannot stand Daphne, I find her ridiculously annoying and hate the way everybody dotes on her.
