29 May 1935. The Bf 109 V1 prototype was powered by a liquid-cooled, supercharged, Rolls-Royce Kestrel VI single overhead cam V-12 engine. The intended Junkers Jumo 210 inverted V-12 engine was not yet available.

The Naval Air Test Center (NATC) effectively changed its name when it was reorganized and consolidated into the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) in 1992. The photo is from 1985, seven years prior to the consolidation and slight name change.
