“Anne! You’ll ruin your dress in that muddy field!”
literary couples for the ages ⇾ Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe
it’s a million times nicer to be anne of green gables than anne of nowhere in particular, isn’t it?

anne of green gables quotes lockscreens
these quotes are from the books
like if you save
Anne always remembered the silvery, peaceful beauty and fragrant calm of that night. It was the last night before sorrow touched her life; and no life is ever quite the same again when once that cold, sanctifying touch has been laid upon it.
— Atticus
anne of green gables aesthetics: ruby gillis
Ruby had always been beautiful; but her beauty had been of the earth, earthy; it had had a certain insolent quality in it, as if it flaunted itself in the beholder’s eye; spirit had never shone through it, intellect had never refined it. But death had touched it and consecrated it, bringing out delicate modelings and purity of outline never seen before – doing what life and love and great sorrow and deep womanhood joys might have done for Ruby. Anne, looking down through a mist of tears, at her old playfellow, thought she saw the face God had meant Ruby to have, and remembered it so always. (Anne of the Island, chapter fourteen)
There is a book of Revelation in every one's life, as there is in the Bible. Anne read hers that bitter night, as she kept her agonized vigil through the hours of storm and darkness. She loved Gilbert — had always loved him! She knew that now. She knew that she could no more cast him out of her life without agony than she could have cut off her right hand and cast it from her. And the knowledge had come too late.
Fictional Character Aesthetic
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables
Life is worth living as long as there’s a laugh in it.
An Anne of Green Gables inspired baby shower
Kristy Rice, the huge talent behind Momental Designs, set out to shower her childhood friend with a day crafted around their shared love of the Anne of Green Gable series. From book favors with hand-painted covers to the narrative of Anne beautifully woven into each and every detail (including a fab cake table), this is a stunning modern spin on a childhood classic all captured by Danielle Coons.
Fictional Friendships:
Anne Shirley and Diana Barry (Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery).
“Oh, Diana,” said Anne at last, clasping her hands and speaking almost in a whisper, “oh, do you think you can like me a little—enough to be my bosom friend?” Diana laughed. Diana always laughed before she spoke. “Why, I guess so,” she said frankly.
I’ve decided I read too many books about murder last year, so I’ve started this one off with Anne Of Green Gables just to play it safe (no homicide… so far).
Christmas morning broke on a beautiful white world. It had been a very mild December and people had looked forward to a green Christmas; but just enough snow fell softly in the night to transfigure Avonlea. Anne peeped out from her frosted gable window with delighted eyes. The firs in the Haunted Wood were all feathery and wonderful; the birches and wild cherry trees were outlined in pearl; the plowed fields were stretches of snowy dimples; and there was a crisp tang in the air that was glorious.
'Cause all my life, I’ve felt this way But I could never find the words to say Stay, stay
“Anne, I have to tell you something.”
“I just can’t keep doing this.”
“Can’t doing…what? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Why are you still holding my hand?”
“Anne.”
“What?”
