Anyone Out There?
@avtdowoon
This is starting to seem very odd... The auditory hallucinations, those are normal. He’s used to hearing whispering here and there- to dealing with the sounds of fire crackling where it’s not or the scraping of non-existent claws against some surfaces. They’re so near constant that he’s able to push them out of his mind sometimes- only turn to look about half of the time when a noise seems out of place. He can usually tell to difference between real and fake- at least to some extent. He can usually guess when it’s a hallucination- one of his mind’s many tricks. But now... Now something is off. This feels very real.
He swore he heard footsteps- not a typical in his auditory hallucinations in the first place. Being followed isn’t enough of a fear for him to be hearing that. No, no his mind needs to play crueler tricks than making him turn around and stare. But these footsteps... They don’t seem fake. They don’t blur in with the little whisper that hits his ears- they don’t just go away either. When he turns around to stare in the direction they came from they even seem to halt- to stutter for just a moment like they person causing them has been somehow shocked to have been noticed. There’s nothing there, though. Kibum’s eyes narrow- head rolling to the side a bit as he squints into the alley’s somewhat dimmed lighting. It’s later in the day- sun already having long gone down. His hallucinations do seem to get more powerful at this time of day, but there’s still something off about this one.
He let’s a puff of smoke drift from his mouth upward as he continues to stare in the direction the footsteps came from. Was there really nothing there? Was his mind starting to form more realistic sounds? He grits his teeth a little at that thought- eyes momentarily jolting to the side as he catches something seeming to creep around the corner. The moment there’s direct line of sight it just wisps away into nothingness. Not real. That one was not real.
He groans to himself- pushing a hand to his forehead before deciding to slightly pinch the bridge of his nose. He could get a headache from all this staring and thinking. He could use a drink or maybe something heavier. He lets his hand drop and stares into the blank space again- for a moment, he swears he hears... Breathing... Was someone holding their breathe? It sounds like it... Did someone not want him to know they were there? But... There’s nothing there. He slouches and grimaces. What is even going on? What is this stupid game his mind is playing with him? Is it his mind? Is it the smog? Another green puff drifts upward and dissipates within seconds.
“Somethin’ there?” His voice is quiet and weak- closer to a whisper than any real talking tone. Being loud is just too hard. He’s in an alley anyway, and likely talking to himself. “I won’t bite or anythin’. If anyone’s there, let’s talk. If it’s just my head... Guess talkin’ to myself isn’t something that abnormal for me, but normal something at least tries to respond...” He sighs at those words. There’s more truth to it than he’d like. Normally if he talks to a hallucination, it starts chatting back. In some odd way, he’d probably be more willing to believe these noises he’s hearing are real if they didn’t respond... But that would be frustrating, since he is making an effort to talk... Sort of.
“Look... I just don’t wanna’ be told I’m going anymore crazy than I already feel. So... Anyone there?”
