Day 139 of drawing Papyrus until he cameos in deltarune! There really are quite a few people who just invite themselves into his house huh? I’m sure he appreciates the surprise friend visits. Also don’t mind the text boxes I don’t know why I did that either.

Battle sprites for the main cast are here!!! The majority of these are edits of their original sprites but a few are completely new. I already showed off Dess and King RUDOLPH last month but Flowey is here now too.

Undyne's pose is changed here a bit to resemble Papyrus'; she's a bit more... enthusiastic.... about capturing humans so she has her spear at the ready. Alphys was a bit of a challenge since her original pose was pretty scrunched but I think this came out well. I'm not any expert at pixel art so if anything looks off it probably is.

Papyrus' pose is slightly changed here too. I was in between how to shade his armor since Undyne's original sprite is very dark but I think this way is best so you can clearly see the face on his armor. Sans is also here. I tried to do as minimal edits as possible. Papyrus is designed by @sunfloraas.

Sad Dummy, Glam Dummy, and his scissors/dummy minion. I added arms and a more rounded head shape to the original dummy sprites. Glam Glitter-kun is one of the completely new sprites, based off Mettaton EX's pose! It made sense to me that Glitter-kun (the anime character) would have a haughty pose in merchandising so it's a match made in heaven. Glam Glitter-kun is designed by @paintedhen.

I really like Noteblook's little pouty face. Maddaton EX is another new sprite, once again based off Mad Mew Mew's pose. To be honest I think the middle area with her arms and guitar details is too visually cluttered but I'm not sure how to improve on that? I do like how her face came out though.

If I was a little more skilled I would figure out how to make animated versions of these. Maybe some day!

I've seen it theorized that Papyrus might be an amnesiac, but I haven't really seen anyone point this out:

To me this feels like he's struggling to remember. "There was green grass" is really vague, not to mention being completely irrelevant to the question - like he only has images of it in his head but can't remember what his life was actually LIKE.

And...

Papyrus can't remember the last time Sans was able to celebrate the holidays with so many friends. At first glance that's just kind of sad, but it could be more significant than we think. The last time Sans would have celebrated the holidays with so many friends would have been before he came to Snowdin, right? At least, probably.

This whole idea of Papyrus only having vague memories of his life before could bring new context to a lot of different lines of dialogue from him. Him knowing what the sun is (as is known from his date), yet apparently not recognizing it when he sees it on the surface (which I initially assumed was just him making a joke, but it might not have been.) Him saying "ARE YOU IN A TOILET?" immediately followed by "ALSO, WHAT'S A TOILET?" like he knows that's something with lots of water but can't remember anything beyond that.

I'm not sure if there's enough here for me to fully believe he can't remember his life before yet. But it's definitely something to keep in mind.

What if this is why Sans has a note in his workshop that says "don't forget"!!! If Papyrus forgot, he could too! And he's terrified of that!

Papyrus also says "WHOOPSIES! I JUST REMEMBERED, I NEED TO USE THE BATHROOM!" which doesn't make any sense - as if it's an excuse he's picked up from someone else without quite knowing what it means.

Alphys also uses this excuse, though in a more sensical way. Sans has a habit of quickly escaping conversations he doesn't want to have, as seen in Papyrus Interview #1 - perhaps they both picked this up from him!

This isn't exactly amnesiac papyrus related but Sans says that Papyrus gets really excited every time it snows, saying, "SANS, LOOK! ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL!?" even though it snows almost every day. It is in character for Papyrus to treat something that happens every day like a special occasion, but another explanation for this habit is that he comes from somewhere where it DOESN'T snow every day. Such as Hometown.

Sans would be ABSURDLY good at poker because of how well he could read faces, but 90% of the time he pretends to suck. The only times he wins is either 1: it would be funnier if he won, or 2: he has incentive to win. The second one rarely happens. Maybe if someone offered free junk food as a prize.

And Papyrus would probably be just as good at poker as Sans because of how well he can recognize voice tones, and he would happily win if given the chance to play :D

What if we took the thing people do where they draw hyperrealistic Papyrus when he's responding to his brothers puns with rage... And did it with other characters? I've seen it with Toriel already, but I think it would be really hilarious.
