what if a shrimp was a baby..........................
lesbian scifi is so easy. here’s a woman in cargo pants and a tank top on a spaceship. are you with me
maybe it’s not even cargo pants. maybe it’s coveralls rolled to + tied around the waist. maybe she even has fuckoff boots
let's stay out of the fandom tags with papa
let's learn to block people with mama
Felis Concolor the Mountain Lion
mountain lions are the biggest of the small cats (Small Cats can purr but can't roar and are all more related to each other than to any of the Big Cats, who can roar but not purr and are all more related to each other than they are to any of the small cats. Basically.)
they can get to be 200+ lbs, hold on
okay do you know how hard it is to find a picture of a large mountain lion next to a human that is NOT a picture of someone bragging about how they've murdered it? Finally found this, from a team tranquilizing mountain lions to put tracking collars on them
if you can't make out the writing, it says: "Brian Kertson, right, and Bart George sit next to a 197-pound cougar they caught and collared on Monday, March 5, 2018. Kerston, who is 6-foot-2 and 270, said the tom cat’s forearms made his arms look puny. (Brian Kerston / Courtesy)"
when they aren't drugged they look a liiiiitle more impressive
they are incredible climbers and astounding jumpers.
They can leap 20 feet straight up in the air from a stand still. That's from the ground to the roof of a two story apartment building. With a running start they can jump across a 40 foot river.
Their favorite hunting method is Jump Upon Creature, often from a high point on a tall rock or from in a tree. And that means you get pictures like this
everytime this crosses my notes again and i see that bottom picture i'm like "aw, BABY"
that one on the bottom is about 9 months old imo
The fur is texutred in a way that my brain reads as juvenile and not the smooth uniform adult coat, but idk how reliable that is.
For sure tho the body proportions look young, and it looks young in the face. Plus you can still see some of the stripey spots they have as kittens left over on the legs
Cougars kittens start off spotty, like so
Some of the spots can be kinda stripey, especially on the legs and tail. As they grow up, the spots fade, and from what i've seen, seem to stay longest or most noticeably on the legs
on the one jumping, you can see what looks like the remains of juvenile spots
the spots are usually faded almost completely by aroooound 6 months old.
I think the mountain lion in the bottom pic of the original post
is probably a couple months or so older than this one, which i would put right around six months maybe
baaaybee
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
RIP to Daveigh Chase. Gone way too soon. 💔
This sketch is incredible. Perfect moment to capture. 10/10 for the artist.

i misspell genus pernis a lot
When you’re birdwatching and you suddenly spot a honey buzzard
Damn USians
Since nobody gave the full latin name 🙄 here it is : she is called Pernis apivorus or Falco apivorus.
The European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) is a species of diurnal bird of prey belonging to the family Accipitridae. This protected, insectivorous, and migratory species is present only during the summer in Europe, constituting more than 75% of its total nesting area. The European Honey Buzzard is a long-distance diurnal migrant. This is partly due to her diet: she goes where her prey is. She lives in Europe during the summer and in Africa during the winter, south of the Sahara.
The species Pernis apivorus has been divided into two distinct species:
Pernis apivorus (European Honey Buzzard)
Pernis ptilorhynchus (Eastern Honey Buzzard, or Helmeted Honey Buzzard, or Crested Honey Buzzard)
1) The fuck does that have to do with anything?
2) If you are going to be an ass you could at least try being correct.
-I didn't include the "full latin name" because this is about the genus Pernis. There are multiple species in the image.
-Falco apivorus is long depreciated. Like, genus Pernis was described in 1816 depreciated. Falco is in order Falconiformes, which Accipitriformes(which includes Pernis) was seperated from. They are now in a completely different order than Falco
-There are more than two Pernis species in this image. They are: Oriental Honey Buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus), Sulawesi Honey Buzzard (Pernis celebensis), Philippine Honey Buzzard (Pernis steerei), and European Honey Buzzard (Pernis apivorus)

audiences do NOT want Star Wars slop, audiences want a movie made by a guy who really wanted to make a movie

The sitemaker (Josh Mayfield at https://bsky.app/profile/bean525.bsky.social) has asked for people to come in and kick its tires so he can work out any bugs they turn up. So do give him a hand, if you feel inclined. :)
(also, deeply amused by this one...)
"I want my media to be historically accurate"
Cool, so you want natural fiber costumes with no/nuanced corset slander, people wearing colors, historical hairstyles, people wearing hats or headcoverings and long sleeves outside during the day, no potatoes or pumpkins in pre-columbian Europe, actors with textured skin and wrinkles, minimal makeup, consulting HEMA groups and weapons scholars for all the weapons and fight scenes, a good soundtrack that includes traditional instruments?
Oh, you mean you want 100% white people. Even in crowd scenes in port cities. There's a different word for that.
You will absolutely not be prepared for the logo that flashes at the end of this drone combat video
WOw I sure was not
