To get the weekend warriors all eco-ready for the coming beach time: @take3forthesea is a simple but meaningful movement. It simply asks that when we are in the ocean or near any waterway to take three items of trash away with us. This has been a practice of mine for a while now, and it isnt uncommon for my friends and I to leave the lineup with bits of trash shoved into our onesies. It doesnt cost anyone anything except a few added seconds. If I wanted to know if someone was out in the water, all I had to do - more often than not - was peep this rack. Missing the daily routine that always began with a wave check at daybreak, followed by coffee and decisions about when to paddle out. There were days when we would clock in 3 sessions before noon and others where an all-day lay day seemed like a good idea. The pace was slow, which I appreciated. How I spent my hours was wholly my call, which I appreciated even more.
