About a month late, but here it is!
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovi2A-Z6qSw) Time-lapse progression from thumbnail sketches to refinement in Photoshop to final inked product. I'm trying to do something different with each of these, so I spent a little time working on hard shadows for this one.

Music is "Wake Up," by Thrice © 2016 Vagrant Records.
Artifact piece (of an exploded parts diagram) for The New Aleph, of an augmented-reality monocle headset that gives IR, UV, and magical data on objects in the field of view. worldsofmebar.com

This is Detective Soma Dan, one of four key characters in #TheNewAleph, and I don't want to really say anything about her uniform or the gun, because those are teasers to what's to come. worldsofmebar.com
Hi, I need advice. I'm on a screenwriting course. I want to write novels. My lecturer thinks its a waste of time. "You should be entering as many script contests as possible!" I like screenwriting, but I don't want to only focus on it. Screenwriting alone is too limiting. I can't switch courses at this point. Dropping out isn't convenient. Do I listen to my lecturer and only write scripts? Thanks!
If you’re on a screenwriting course, learn the things you can get from a screenwriting course. Learn about coming in to a scene late and leaving early. Learn about making every line of dialogue something that moves the plot forward and also reveals character. Learn about structure and planning and shape. Learn about what happens to your story if you write a scene and then move it earlier or later or delete it altogether. Learn about rewriting.
Because there’s nothing you’ll learn from a screenwriting course that won’t be useful when you write novels or short stories. It’s all making stories with words, in different ways.

In Mebar there are magical items that follow natural laws as well as strict rules pertaining to the special materials they’re made of, but there are ones that do not have to have any limitations. “Hollow” items are designed when their function is carefully written out on special paper. They often have no internal workings, hence the name, such as this pistol, the Deadbeat. It's named from the markings on the slider: D, d, and Ø, which stand for “Destroy,” “disable,” and “no fire.”
Pan began as the architectural side-project of two of Mebar's creators. They didn't want to be burdened with also designing geography, so they used a mirrored copy of the entire globe of Prometheus as their canvas. Eight centuries later, it is the second-most populated world, one where most day to day technologies include components made from magic-based materials.
Like Prometheus, the people here think that the thousands of other worlds in Mebar are only legend. Except for Prometheus, because of particular evidence that is impossible to ignore...

In MEBAR many devices combine engineering and magic. Element Locks are devastating weapons that use a clever hydraulic mechanism built from magical materials to charge blasts of elemental energy, drawn from the hand of the holder (meaning only those with elemental powers can wield them). They're used by people who don't have the time or motivation to master their powers.
The New Aleph starts on the post-industrial world of Prometheus. It is the most populated in MEBAR, and most people there believe that after a two millenia interstellar journey, Prometheus was teraformed and inhabited. However, they think the other worlds of MEBAR, and the ruling Alephs, are superstitious myth.

Four strangers living in different parts of a multi-verse have their lives disrupted in the wake of a tragedy. Their responses to the corruptions revealed from this, and to the wounds they inflict on each other, will define justice for everyone. The New Aleph is a 420-page fantasy book by Andy Wright. Follow The New Aleph on Inkshares.
There! I have a schedule put together for how I'll show off all the art for The New Aleph over the next 2.5 mths.
Can't reveal the stuff I'm drawing this year, because it will ruin promo for next year, but I can show sneak peeks.
After Tested.com started their series on a Gundam build, it reminded me how much I wanted to build one. This here’s the titular Mobile Suit from Gundam 00 (which actually only appears at the very end of season 1, if I remember right). I put in about 14-15 hours altogether of assembly and weathering (but I may still go back and redo the weathering, because I’m a crazy person).

I’m still not the biggest fan of the whole owl thing, but I will admit that Bowie (Emily’s owl) provides the quickest takeout. All I have to do is give the little dude a paper with my order and the Sickles for it and 5 minutes later he returns from Hogsmead with my food. It’s like those delivery drones they’re working on back home, only it actually works.
