@awitchybunbao
i want to be mysterious but like in a cute way. i want people to know iâm kind and gentle, but at the same time i want to wear a long black coat and want people to look at me and whisper to each other ânobody knows anything about this woman. she lives alone and doesnât talk much. stay away from herâ but then mothers would bring their sick children to me so i could heal them with my mysterious cryptic healing powers because i am the witch of the town.
đżMinimizing Waste as a Hearth Witchđż
Minimizing waste saves money and the environment. With a little creativity, there are many ways you can create opportunities to reduce waste and maximize the supplies you have.
đ Keep your jars. If you buy something that comes in a useful container and can be reused - then reuse it. In my experience, the best reuse for plastic containers is to freeze food. Also, small bottles like Advil bottles, are EXCELLENT spell jars. However, for all types, you can use them to store food, organize drawers and closets, store spell ingredients, or even make decorations. The possibilities are nearly endless!
đKeep all your fruit, vegetable, and herb scraps. With some scraps and water, you can make a lovely broth. Alternatively, you can use them to make a simmer pot for a spell or simply for the scent.
đIf you eat meat, keep the bones. Again, a great broth ingredient!
đAvoid paper towels whenever possible. These are super wasteful and expensive. Whenever possible, I opt to use a towel or cloth. You can recycle old textiles for rags. However, if you're feeling ambitious you can knit or crochet towels and cloths; this is a great way to use up that scrap yarn you probably have laying around! You may even choose to add a bit of knot magic to these pieces.
đThrift and upcycle. This is a bit of an obvious one; but really. It's a great way to have lovely belongings while reducing waste overall and saving money. With a bit of love, many things can be new.
đAlmost every dish can be salvaged. It happens. We mess up. But, before you throw it away, do some research on how to salvage it. Odds are, you will be able to do it!
đDon't throw away fruits or vegetables that are overripe or wilting. Within reason, of course, many of these fruits and vegetables can be frozen for soups, casseroles, sauces, and smoothies!
đBuy a reusable coffee filter and tea basket for loose tea. Really, this is a given if you are a tea or coffee lover. Disposable ones are so wasteful and the reusable ones will pay for themselves in no time.
đCompost if you can. Compost dirt is amazing for growing ingredients for dishes and spells. While you're at it, save your eggshells, as well.
đMend your clothes, blankets, and even shoes. A little bit of love can go a long way, including increasing the life of your favorite items. You can also add flair by learning how to darn and apply patches.
đLearn how to remove stains from fabric. In the same vein as mending, learning how to remove stains increases the life of your clothes. Different stains require different methods of removal, but usually, it is not impossible. Failing this, learn how to dye your clothes to revamp them.
đUse alternative cosmetics. This is a really big topic and I will create a post about this later. But, consider doing research. There are lots of things that can be made or substituted; notably face masks, hair masks, and using coconut oil as a make-up remover.
đLocalize your practice. Use natural herbs and ingredients found in your local environment. Create your own correspondence if needed.
đCollect rainwater. Unfortunately, it is no longer a great idea to drink rainwater - but use it to water plants and clean your floors. Rainwater is also a powerful spell ingredient for spells that don't require drinking or putting on your skin.
đOnly buy what you need. This time of year more than ever it is VERY tempting to buy up cheap Halloween-themed goods. But, consider an item's long-term usefulness, if it will create clutter and disorder in your home in the future, and if there are alternatives.
đBuy a cheap food dehydrator. These are perfect for making tea and drying out herbs, flowers, and other ingredients for spells and cooking.
đConsider alternatives in cooking and spells. There is always an alternative, you may not have to buy something new.
đMeals and beverages as spells. As a full-blown kitchen, I believe spells eaten and drank are extremely powerful. It also saves on ingredients.
Plants and books đđ

Samhain
Crisp air like a freshly picked apple and leaves the colors of sunset indicating the ending of a season; here comes Autumn and with it a very popular pagan holiday: Samhain!
This is a remake of my original Samhain post. This one is going to be a long one so buckle up!~
While us those in the northern hemisphere are celebrating Samhain, our friends in the southern hemisphere will be celebrating Beltane!
Historical Samhain
The name âSamhainâ (pronounced Sah-when) comes from the Old Irish samain which literally means âSummerâs endâ as it was created using Old Irish sam âSummerâ and fuin âendâ (etymonline.com).
By now Iâm sure youâve guessed Samhainâs origin, itâs a Celtic* festival, one of four major holidays.
**In this post when I refer to âCeltsâ or âCeltic peopleâ I am referring only to the Insular Celts, more specifically the Gaelic-speaking Celts. To learn the difference between Celtic and Gaelic please read this article
For these Celts, Samhain was the beginning of the new year. Due to the oral nature of the culture, not much is known about the traditions of Samhain, though we have some documentation from other cultures as well as some ideas from historians as to what they may have done.
Traditions
The traditions of Samhain may vary by group or even by family, but one common tradition was to have a large, public sacred bonfire. (Fun fact, the term âBonfireâ comes from the English âbonefireâ meaning literally âa fire of bonesâ). During these bonfires, the Celts would sacrifice livestock and crops as offerings to their deities.
Households would extinguish their hearth fires earlier that day and would take the flame from the public bonfire to reignite their hearths. This was likely to represent renewal or new beginnings as they transitioned to the new year as well as a representation of community.
The veil between this world and other worlds is thought to be very thin on Samhain, making it easier not only for us to reach out to spirits, deities, and the like, but for them to reach out to us. These otherworldly beings are thought to be able to influence our world more powerfully during Samhain.
In some places, like Britanny, they believed that the dead would visit their living friends and relatives during this time.
In Welsh tradition, people would leave out food, leave doors unlocked, and prepare the house for the spirits of relatives that may come to visit.
Large turnips were hollowed out and would have faces carved into them and then place on window sills to ward off evil spirits.
In other places, like Scotland, Samhain was a time for mischief. Young men would dress up as spirits, donning masks, painting their faces, or wearing costumes.
Divination was very popular during this time, especially marriage divination. This wasnât just done by druids but by the common folk as well.
In some places, it was considered taboo to forage for fruit or grain during and after Samhain, it was thought that the fae or spirits would have passed over and tainted them. There were even laws against doing so.
Notes
Samhain is the Irish name for the month of November.
Samhain is one of the four main holidays of the ancient Celts, the other three are Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Imbolc.
Pigs were the choice of sacrificial animal for Samhain.
Samhain was a sacred time that often welcomed assemblies and would be used to settle important business matters like the inauguration of new kings, debts being paid, and trials.
In Celtic mythology, the Second Battle of Mag Tuired begins on Samhain.
Trick-or-treating is a modern-day tradition but could have derived from the many different traditions of old.
The Cailleach is a seasonal goddess said to rule the âdarkâ side of the year (fall and winter) and would rule between Samhain and Beltane. Likewise, the goddess Brigid would rule the âlightâ side of the year between Beltane and Samhain.
While Wiccans may celebrate Samhain as part of their Wheel of the Year, it is not a Wiccan-specific holiday and has ties to much older traditions.
Modern Halloween is an amalgamation of Samhain and the Christian All Hallowsâ Eve or All Saintsâ Day and All Soulsâ day. Halloween found its popularity after many Celts immigrated to North America.
Similar to these holidays is DĂa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which originated in Mexico. This holiday reunites the living and the dead, allowing the spirits of loved ones to cross back over to our world for a short period of time. Families will make altars and give offerings to those who have passed. Festivities and celebrations are held during this time. It is traditionally held on November 1st or 2nd but is celebrated on October 31st or November 6th depending on the location.
Modern Samhain
As long as youâre aware of and honor the history of Samhain and are being respectful you can celebrate this holiday however you choose!
Here is a list of correspondences and the like that I found throughout my research for Samhain, some have historical backing and others donât. Take what speaks to you and leave what doesnât.

Cerunnos
Diana
Anubis
Hecate
Heimdall
Here are more liminal deities and here are more death deities.

Other Correspondences
Tarot: Death, The World
Death in the Tarot often means âthe end of something with the promise of something new on the horizonâ, and represents transition the perfect card for a holiday of similar sentiment.
The World tarot card indicates cycles, closure, and completion.
Zodiac: Scorpio
Itâs Scorpio season!
Runes: Fehu, Eihwaz
Fehu can represent new beginnings.
Eihwaz represents transformation, out with the old and in with the new, which pairs well with the ancient Celtic new year.
Androgyny
In Samhain's past, it wasnât uncommon for men to dress in traditionally womenâs clothes and women to dress in traditionally menâs clothes. While the social idea of gender is shifting and we donât gender clothes as often in some modern societies, we can still use this as a way of celebration. Androgyny is like the liminal version of gender, neither male nor female. So trans witches or gender non-conforming witches of all flavors: show yourself some extra love this coming Samhain holiday!

Fairy Tale Spells by Bree NicGarran
Fairy tales have always been with us. Apart from teaching moral lessons and practical cautions, they remain a source of wonder and inspiration that persists even in a modern age dominated by technology.
There is magic in these tales as well - spells and charms that aid the worthy and conquer obstacles, heal the ailing and bring wealth to the poor, thwart the wicked and exact terrible revenge, or grant someone their hearts' desire and make their dearest wishes come true.
I have created over a hundred such spells, inspired by the tales recorded by the Brothers Grimm and the folklore collected by Andrew Lang. One volume was published back in 2017 and another is forthcoming. If you're curious (and maybe a little bit daring), here are some previews of the spells to be found in the pages of The Sisters Grimmoire.
After all, who couldnât use a bit of Happily Ever After?
The Sisters Grimmoire, Vol. I
A Bellyful of Stones - A curse to punish the greedy.
Roughskin - To protect and disguise oneself from those who mean to harm you.
Table of Plenty - To obtain needed money or provisions.
The Red Flower - For removing enchantment.
The Sorrow Pot - To relieve your sorrows and bring justice for a grievance.
The Wall of Thorns - To protect oneâs home and property.
The Sisters Grimmoire, Vol. II (forthcoming)
Make Sure You Lock Up - To set your household wards when you lock your front door.
The Ferryman's Curse - To curse another with the problems that plague your own life.
The Shining Web - To repel trouble from the home.

Deity Dossier
This spread is intended to answer those âIâm being contacted by a deity but which one!?!â questions. This is your answer. It wonât give a name up it will give up a LOT of information to help you find out the answer.
Iâve been working on this one for what seems like forever. This is a HUGE spread. The kind of spread where you lay out on the floor and hope the cat doesnât mess up the spread kind of spread. Itâs meant to look like a tree with the four cards at the bottom being roots but I am not an artist. I canât even stick figure well. However, I also gave you two demos of the spread in action!
Special thanks to hellboundwitch and whatever beings were used as testers.
The text is tiny so Iâll copy it below for your convenience.
Spirit or Significator: This represents the spirit, deity, or being in question. The card can be drawn or selected, depending on if you know the nature of the spirit or a card that could represent them.
Past: These are past deeds or dealings the spirit has had with either other people or you that you should know about.
Underlying Influences: Similar to Past, this represents influences that could be important to know. This may be an emotional thing rather than a past action. (Example: if previously betrayed by humans, a spirit is less likely to want to deal with humans.)
Attitude and Thoughts or General Personality: General personality and/or how they think.
Present: Their current status. If a spirit is in trouble, this information would appear here.
Situation at Hand (optional): If thereâs a specific situation at hand, draw this card. (Example: A spirit asks for a large offering that would be very expensive - draw this card to see why it suddenly needs that offering.
Health: The health of the spirit, deity, or being. (Example: A land spirit could be ill or ailing due to pollution.)
Mind: Their mental health or, possibly, their overall mood.
Physical: Their physical health or how they could physically manifest. This is especially useful for finding out what deity is contacting you.
Things They Like to Do: This could be things they like to do for others, part of their sphere of influence, and/or things that could be used to connect with them or honor them. Think of this like hobbies or likes.
What to Know: Things that are imperative for you to know. This could be used to see how working with this being could affect you in the future.
What to Avoid: Things that are imperative for you to avoid doing. Example: If a spirit hates blood, donât give blood offerings. This could also be used to see how the spirit could negatively affect you in the future.
Positive Influences: What is helpful? What will help your relationship with them? This can be something that is not in the spirit or deityâs sphere of influence but still influences them. A deity might be one of fertility but their sibling could be a deity of war. That will somewhat play into how the spirit acts. Another example would be a spirit becoming powerful because a nearby coven is worshiping it.
Negative Influences: Exactly as above, but the more negative side of things. What isnât helping this spirit? What will not help your relationship with them? Do they feel used or not appreciated? The examples above also apply.Â
Conscious Desires: What they want. This could be offerings or a general goal. This may be what they want from you. If they have an agenda theyâll admit to, it will be here.
Unconscious Desires: This is what they want but wonât admit to or what they donât know they want. If they have a hidden agenda, it will be here.
Hopes: This can be a general list of hopes, a overall hope for the future, or what they hope to get from you.
Fears: This can be a general list of fears, what they fear for the future,or what theyâre concerned about in regards of you or your life. Â
For those of you staring wide-eyed at this, I offer this reading in my shop.
Have fun everyone!Â

âGandkvÊði TrĂłndarâ - Faroese Traditional Song
Artist: Unknown
I tersely carve runes in my hand that drive away ravens feasting on carcasses. SigmundâŠ. âSigmund shall be witness to the truthâ, TrĂłnder sang powerfully: âValhalla shall be defended, -as predicted by gods - by great Northmen till the end.â Succeeding to impose the faith of the East-landers, Sigmund never shall. Mountainous Faroes! Mountainous Faroes, the most vicious runes Mountainous Faroes! written by the gods in unique righteousness Mountainous Faroes! TrĂłndur swore to be loyal to. He swore to dauntlessly defend the way of his old religion. Mountainous Faroes! Swore to his religionâŠ
*EDIT: it should be 1/4 tsp baking powder NOT 1/2tsp of salt twice. Thank you so much to the person who caught this!! So 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp baking powder! :)
One of my favourite treats to make over the holidays (or letâs be real, any time of the year). I made a quick recipe video thatâs easy to follow if you wanted to give my recipe a go đ„°đ„ let me know if you do and how you like it đ
How could you NOT fall in love with the glow of the moon and stars, the warmth of the sun, the ancient life within the trees, and the sweet melodies of the winds?
What do you think of the website Joyofsatandotorg?
Joy of Satan and its various âfrontsâ and recruitment attempts are best avoided at all costs.Â
Iâve nothing (at least, in theory) against Satanism as a whole, but that particular group has repeatedly shown itself to be fascist-aligned, antisemitic, and generally toxic. I donât believe Iâd be out-of-place just to call it a cult, actually.Â
A lot of JoS apologists want to pretend that any argument against them is just people being scared off by the word âSatan,â but thatâs not really true. I donât give a heck whether someone worships Satan, Lucifer, or freakinâ Cthulhu for all I care.Â
People (including me) dislike and avoid JoS not because it references Satan, but because itâs (for the most part) just a recruitment front for neoNazi interests.
And no, Iâm not doing the âeverything I disagree with is Naziâ bit, either - if you dig into their sites and speak to group members online, it becomes apparent that the group is, well, packed with real Nazis hoping to recruit occultists into their belief system.
This is particularly disturbing because they try very, very hard to recruit children. They also seem to be drinking in a lot of New Age conspiracy theories (Reptilians, etc) while churning all that into their own brand of white supremacist mythology (Jewish people are the Reptoids, Satan is an Aryan alien, etc, nonsense like thatâŠ)
It is telling that internal (and often external) JoS propaganda tends to talk way more about âthe Jewsâ than Satan or any sort of legitimate spiritual work/religion.Â
You can read more of that here, and hopefully make the sensible choice of a decent person, and avoid the Joy of Satan group.
Seconding all of this, Satanists are often very chill, Joy of Satan is trash and largely denounced by every Satanist itâs come up in conversation around.
Though I do want to point out that Jewish people being reptiles isnât actually their own brand of nonsense⊠thatâs what the lizard people âconspiracyâ has always been at its core.
I got this exact same anon question months ago, make of that what you will.
Marvel's Odin: is it Odin?
No, Marvelâs Odin is not Odin.
Yes Odin:
Old man
One eye
Mysterious
Big beard
Magic powers
Immortal
Proud
Warrior
Feasts
Spear
Special horse
No Odin:
Majestic
Holier-than-thou
Bad host
Shiny
Well-groomed
Heavily non-Norse aesthetic
Finally, some good fucking food
I need one of these for every myth character Marvel tried to reproduce please and thank you
