A petite girl sat, solitary, at a table. The table itself was nothing to stare at, plainly glass with a circular frame, and reflection buffetted by the clouds overhead.

In the distance, the faintest sound of tinkling bells could be heard.

“Tea time, Miss Margaret,” the Butler said, in a guiding tone.

The small girl only huffed in response. She balled up her dress-skirts tight within her fists, and stared in minor frustration at the procession of dainty dishes. Each cup, each plate, was filled with a steaming, aromatic liquid and very much not-sweet tea cookies accompanied them. She turned her nose up.

“I don’t like these, Parver! I want something else!”

“Ah-ah-ah,” he said, scooping a lump of sugar into his ward’s tea, “one must be content with what they have. It will not serve a little lady to have much of a sweet tooth.”

Of course, the glare was rather earned in Margaret’s perspective. He was denying her of the only good thing in the house since the recession. Tea sweets! In the end, she merely turned up her nose and repeated what she’d heard her parents say, over and over again.

“Frankly, I don’t give a damn.”

I’m answering this one first of all my inbox, simply to clear up any possible confusion and also to get this off the table as fast as I can.

Many people these days fail to differentiate disagreeing with one’s actions from disliking them as a person. According to the Bible, certain actions are a sin, I am certain you’re well aware of that. However, the Bible also says to love all kinds of people. Clearly, there is a strict difference.

To answer your question as bluntly as possible, it’s not my place to judge what anyone does in their free time. I am here to accept confessions and help with repentance. I will not refuse anyone based on what they are and even if I disagree with someone’s actions, I won’t act rudely towards them (provided they grant me the same amount of tolerance).

If you’ve been around for a while, you are probably aware that arguably not one of my children is straight. And while I certainly can’t say I’m thrilled about that, they are still my children and I wouldn’t abandon them because of that. I am not obliged to agree with anything they do though.
