This is literally the most bomb-ass D&D story Iâve ever read in my life oh my god.
Holy shit ._.
Some RP sessions have better stories than actual fiction. I mean, goddamn.
For those having trouble reading the text:
We had a campaign in D&D where we assembled a steampunk-ish time machine. After many sessions travelling through time, uncovering mysteries and learning harsh lessons about changing history, we had to stop a time-travelling cult from destroying the gods, and therefore the world. We failed.
Our machine crashed, we were stranded earlier than we had ever been able to travel. We found the Gods, but only a few of them were present - it was as if some had never existed. Then we realised - we had to become those Gods. Our party was entirely divine (Cleric, Paladin, Avenger, Invoker), and each of us was a worshipper of a god who had been unmade - and we were the only people in existence with enough knowledge of the forgotten deities to assume their roles.
But two of the players were worshippers of Io (in his twin forms of Tiamat and Bahamut, who would of course form later after Ioâs âdeathâ), and only one could become Io. The other would have to be the un-created Asmodeus.
So the most just, honourable and dedicated Lawful Good paladin Iâve ever seen roleplayed became the god of tyranny and evil. If he hadnât, the gods would never have defeated the primordials, and the world would never have been completed.
In our setting, Asmodeus is every bit the epitome of evil you would expect him to be. Nobody but the gods who abide his presence know him as otherwise. He adheres to his role because he knows he has to - and that in doing so, the world can exist. He can never tell anyone his duty, and no-one who knows can ever discuss it.
In the farthest recesses of the Nine Hells, in a chamber sealed tighter than any other in existence is a pocketwatch of finest gnome craft with a photo of his family in it - his wife, son, and little baby girl.
They were killed by an orc army marching under the orders and banner of Asmodeus. Their deaths are what drove him to become an adventurer.
Goddamn
If sexual activity between same-gender people became illegal, the police would be the ones enforcing those laws.
That's why police are not welcome at Pride. Pride is for unconditional supporters, not for those who would become enemies as soon as they're ordered to.
I feel it's important to amend this with "if sexual activity between same-gender people became illegal AGAIN, the police would be the ones enforcing those laws AGAIN."
They did it before and they'll do it again. Gay sex was only made legal in Texas in 2003. I was at a sleepover at my best friend's house when it happened. We could hear the celebrations from the bar district down the block. We were 14 and both knew we were queer.
So yes, they're not welcome at pride because they'll turn on us in an instant. But also because cops who have been cops for a while full-on were against us only NINETEEN years ago.
And yes I know that's just in Texas and other states have different histories but I'm not even that old and I remember when being gay was illegal. When any relationship I dreamed of having was illegal. And THAT is my bigger reason that cops aren't welcome at pride. Yes they will turn on us, but they already were against us and not-so-secretly still are.
Keep up the pressure. They will get away with whatever they want at this rate.
Generally when it comes out that you lied during your interview for a job about a major reason they would consider you an appropriate fit for the position, it had consequences such as you being removed from said position.
Pro-Capitalistâs defense of capitalism is just explaining how it works, and then when you say âyes I know, I just think it shouldnât be like thatâ they explain it to you again but angrier this time
They say âItâs fair because the people who own capital earn all the rewardsâ and then you say âI dont think owning capital entitles you to all the profitsâ and then their brain short circuits
âHe invested capitalâ
âYes and then a thousand other people did work while he sat around and profited.â
âBut⌠he invested capitalâŚ.â
they literally CAN NOT FATHOM that I know how capitalism works and just oppose it on moral grounds
The logistics:
Oh my g-d theyâre doing it again
Parents who spoke at Tuesday's meeting argued if they are not notified about a queer student, it's a violation of their parental rights.
Reasons I like subtitles:
1. I can see how peopleâs names and the cities and the countries are spelled.
2. I donât miss any words, so everything they say makes sense.
3. I get to know what background noises and conversations are.
4. The descriptions of the noises people make are freaking awesome. Ex: splutter, grunt, chuckles.
5. I can see who says what.
6. I donât have to have the volume super loud so I can hear the dialogue, and I donât blow my eardrums out because the ambient noises and music is SO FREAKING LOUD.
I freaking love subtitles.
In France, I like to think they *remember* what happens when they protest too hard. The French are exceptionally good at protesting, and we should maybe consider learning some things from them.
you cant wear a wittle face mask to stop yourself from killing other people bc you have hot breath?
cyclops xman literally wears glasses 24/7 to contain his literal laser beans in his eyes from hurting anyone even tho hes in constant excruciating pain or whatever idk if that true. and hes just some twink. grow up.

WHY DOES YOUR SOAP NEED INTERNET
Anyway this is your reminder to STOP BUYING SMART DEVICES THAT AREN'T NECESSARY.
Your soap does not need to connect to the internet. Your fridge does not need to be able to track the temperature in other countries. Your stove shouldn't talk to you
This is not "technology bad" this is "these corporations are tracking you and your movements at ALL TIMES OF THE DAY." They know your every move down to when you wash your hands after you take a shit. Alexa and Siri were the first introduction to this, and once people got used to them on their phones, they put them in their own little gadgets for your house.
And then they connected those gadgets to the lights. To the doors. To the window locks. To the thermostat.
You should be TERRIFIED at how many things are becoming "smart" these days. It's yet another way for companies to sell to you, and, in a worst case scenario, it can be the thing that puts you in harms way.
Imagine you're running a little late on your electric bill, and your fridge is a "smart" fridge. And because you're running late on your payment they just....lock your fridge. Not shut the electricity off. Lock your fridge. Because fridges can now be locked remotely. You can no longer access your food until you pay them.
Cops want to know if you've been to any protests recently? They can track that handy dandy smart watch you decided to wear, even though you left your phone in the car. They can tell if you were home all day or lying.
Abusive partner or family member? They can shut off your support systems everywhere. Decide when you get to eat, if you do. Decide how hot or cold the house should be to make you suffer. Turn off the oven in the middle of you cooking dinner bc you upset them. Lock you in. Lock you out.
Your appliances, your LIFE, should not be surrounded by smart tech. Buy normal clocks. Get normal soap dispensers. Keep a pen and paper on the fridge to write down your grocery list. Set a manual timer for the oven. Wear a normal watch that only tells time. Get a step counter that clips to your belt.
Phone, laptop, TV. Those are the only things that make sense being "smart." Everything else is one step closer to a dystopian novel that you don't want to be in.
Your phone already tracks your every step. Don't give every other thing in your life that ability.
This is so important to me..
