ohsairus:
âAh right, you canât read what I wrote downâŚâ He paused in thought as he skimmed through a thick book adorned with his cults symbol on the front surrounded by a black casing and old golden-edge pages, âActually, your mother should have some of my notes on record that you can read should she not? But if this is forrbiden knowledgeâŚâ He closed the book and set it roughly on his lap. Something in his mind told him he must share these with her in secret or even up to without him âknowingâ. âThen Iâm afraid I must decline your access to them. While I am usually all for one to dive into the unknown, I will not taint the relationship of my presence on your grounds.â He stood as segments of his robes rolled off of one another and hid the book for a moment before he placed it once again on the table, oddly enough for the cover to be placed down.
âWhile I am a Warlock and highly encourage the pursuit of knowledge,â his gaze was purposely drawn away from her to the fires that flickered brightly behind them on the old bookshelf, âI am a tired Warlock. I can barely keep up with my mind let alone must be careful on what information I give to a child. If you learn, then that is on your own accord.â His back was completely turned to her, fully aware that she had access to the book and whatever notes she could gather in her grasp. âBut if I were to let you have even a snippet of information, I would tell you that you would use the book I just set down and remove the eye emblem in front and read the book again. Oh and to use the back of the book is a decoder. It must be held in the light for the ink on the back to be seen.â He chuckled to himself before he continued, âNo one can read it without it. Itâs all in my own language. Have to keep the best things hidden, hmm?â It was almost like she could hear the smirk that accompanied that last comment.
âBut as I said, I am a tired Warlock and canât always keep up with all my distribution of knowledge.â The human Vex combination sighed out before coughing for a moment, hoping she could take the book during his abrupt coughing fit. âThat books holds information to where you dont need to be a Guardian or have one on guard to explore the Vex. However itâs one of a kindâŚâ He turned his head back to her, face covered by the cloak to give her a visual warning on her careful one must be with his belongings.
âWell, I mean, I can try and read it, but Iâm just not fluent in...â And she trails off as Osiris continues, and for a moment, she thinks heâs chiding her for asking in the first place. She frowns, and then watches the book as its placed on the table, his back his turned. She has half a mind to argue, but... thatâs when she stops to truly listen.
Interesting. She reaches out, and quietly slides the book towards her, along with a couple of the notes he had left out on the table he said she could have a look at. Sheâs careful to not let the pages rustle, just in case sheâs not truly understood what heâs saying; English is a strange language, and sheâs had bad miscommunications before. The last thing she needs to do right now, is completely and utterly piss off a Warlock like Osiris.
The coughing fit ends up being the perfect cover, and gives her the time to tuck the book and notes safely away before he can fully turn back around to look at her. Sheâs as gentle as she can be with the book, and the notes, not wanting to damage them, or even just jostle them too much.
She rises then, seeing that he might be about to turn around at any moment. âWell, thank you anyway, Osiris. I learned a few things, even if Iâm not able to go through your notes,â she says, smiling kindly, but doing her very best to keep anything sly off of her face. âI do think there are some notes in the archives back in the Reef, but whether or not I can access them...â She shrugs. âI suppose I can find that out when I get home.â
