You’ve probably seen what’s been happening in Turkey over the last few weeks. A terrifying terrorist attack, a coup attempt and now a state of emergency. The pictures on our TV screens and in our newspapers show a country currently in turmoil. But when these frightening events are happening it’s important to remember that life is continuing for people in Turkey, especially for the children. Today is #WorldRefugeeDay! Every refugee's story is unique, but our compassion shouldn't be. Across the world there are 65.3 million refugees--a record high. Turkey hosts the largest amount of any country in the world. They are working to get refugee children much needed education and support. Schools and schoolchildren like this one are welcoming refugees. World leaders (and all of us!) should ask ourselves: What can we do to get to know the people behind the statistics?
