There are poets who sing you to sleep and poets who ready you for war and I want to be both.

Hemingway is a writing checker that is absolutely brilliant.
checks all spellings for you
checks if you’re over-using adverbs
picks out over-complicated sentences
suggests replacements for over-complicated phrases
picks out the passive voice
tells you how readable your text is (Grades/College level/etc)
calculates reading time
USE IT. USE IT FOR YOUR FANFICS. USE IT FOR YOUR PAPERS. IT WILL SAVE. YOUR. LIFE.
Normally I don’t reblog, but this is absolutely brilliant!
Writing Prompt #249
A hand drawn map stretched across the four walls, but none of the locations were familiar to me. Also, two words written in smeared blue ink, one on the wall to my left, and one on the wall to my right.
Checklist
I look around the empty parking lot My grey car far from sight Preparing my mental checklist I’m going home safe tonight
No ponytail? (Check) My keys in my right hand My cellphone in my left Do I have that mace in my purse? (Check. Double check)
Just keep walking Look straight on ahead They won’t go after someone who looks scared But don’t be afraid to scream. Make sure you check your left, right and behind (Check. Triple check)
I hope my skirt isn’t too short I swear I’m almost there Take a look below the car Make sure no shadows are there (Check. Quadruple check)
Get your keys ready Open the door, get inside Lock the doors, turn on your lights Drive away from sight
Turn on the radio Make my way home tonight I have to admit That parking lot sure is creepy 11 o'clock at night
Write about how you keep yourself safe.
