A personal headcannon of mine is that after Marineford Luffy still had trace amounts of poison in his system and Law couldn't do much about it so Luffy would hallucinate that Ace was somewhere on Polar Tang or on Boa's Island

REAL I love that headcanon. At the corner of Luffy's eye he'd think he'd see Ace's figure but he's really not there, In places where he's alone I think he'd also see him standing but he's too far away and his face is too dark to see... I think it's not only Ace he'd hallucinate actually, maybe Sabo too sometimes? he'd probably feel guilty being the only one alive amongst the three of them (He doesn't know yet that Sabo is alive)
