i am so insane about iron lung. its a movie adaption done right. its an adaptation that adds something of import and value to the original source material without taking away from the tedious and wild experience of the game. it simultaneously does the game justice and creates something of its own. it refuses to fall into the theme of despair that is so heavily featured in the game because hope is what we need right now. its what humanity needs period. this movie says that our fate is bleak, and that is why we must fight. that is why we must kick and scream and bite like simon does. you cannot go down without a fight. you mustn’t. no matter how cynical your view of the world is, no matter what regret or guilt you may possess, the ability to increase the chance of a possible, better tomorrow is within you. despite the undetermined nature of the future and the perceived unlikelihood of a great future, at least you can say that you tried. for a moment, you believed, and that’s what keeps you alive.
