idia’s countdown image has been bothering me for a while, and i finally realized why
every other countdown post highlights one colored object tied to the character’s house. thorns, bubbles, apples. idia doesn’t get that. the only thing in color is his hair
that isn’t laziness. that’s the point
i don’t think idia’s hair was just a design choice. it’s the curse. it’s his bloodline. it’s something he can never take off, never set aside, never escape from. it follows him everywhere, so of course that’s what’s colored. the problem in his life isn’t something he holds. it’s something he is
he looks distressed in the art because imagine being forced to look at your entire future knowing exactly why it’s limited. knowing the rules were written before you were born. knowing there are paths you’ll never be allowed to walk down no matter how capable you might have been
how you wish you could do something to stop zero from being zero.
if you’re forced to look at your entire life and opportunities helplessly knowing you can’t do anything about it, you’re going to want to find a coping mechanism. and idia found his. gaming
that’s why this image feels different. everyone else is defined by something external. idia is defined by something internal that he never asked for and can never put down
