Mason tugged on Reece’s hand to run under anywhere they could get away from the rain but it was too late. Within seconds they were drenched. “Yanno, this feels kinda nice.” Mason smiled as he closed his eyes and took in the smell of the fresh rain. They had made the mistake of leaving home without checking the weather and to be honest, he was loving this; however, he could tell Reece hated it just by looking at the way he was trembling. “You okay?” Mason wrapped his arms around his finance hoping body heat would warm up the blonde but he wasn’t too sure it was helping at all. “We’ll be home soon, just a few more blocks. Then we can cuddle to warm up, okay?” he cupped Reece’s face and planted a kiss on his lips. “But first we gotta run home. Get ready.” he chuckled as he took Reece’s hand in his, knowing this was the blonde’s favorite thing in the entire world, running.

“I told you not to get anything from that food truck but NOOOOO, you just had to get something.” Mason scolded the blonde as he stood in the corner of his hospital room for food poisoning. “I knew it looked really fucking sketchy and now look at where we are.” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest, frustrated with the entire situation since it could’ve easily been avoided if Reece had just listened to him earlier. However he could never stay irritated with Reece for long, especially not while looking at how sick he looked laying in that bed. He sighed and sat on the side of Reece’s bed so he could hold his hand. “Just let me know if you’re gonna be sick so I can get out of the way.”

“You– -What?” Reece frowned, his heart breaking into what could be a million pieces. He thought he was hearing things. That this was all one big horrible nightmare to him. Or even some sick cruel joke. But it wasn’t, it was reality and tears welled up in the blonde’s eyes, stepping away from Mason. Mason hadn’t looked at him, which made him feel even worse. The only thing he could do to retaliate wasn’t much. “And maybe I should have never fallen for you either.” He attempted weakly in trying to make his words meaningful but they weren’t true. No matter how many times he said it. Wiping his sleeve on his tearful eyes, he spun on the heel of his shoes and out the door of the apartment. He wasn’t sure where’d he go for the rest of the day but anywhere else felt better than being home.

Mason smiled widely as Reece agreed with him on everything. Though that smile quickly faded away as soon as the blonde mentioned the wedding and his father. “I don’t want to talk about that.” He muttered and chewed on the inside of his cheek for a brief moment. “Actually, Reece…nevermind.”

Reece never wanted to be that couple that never communicated. So Mason’s words made him frown. “Nevermind? Why can’t you just tell me?”

“Yeah it has.” she smiled as she awkwardly hugged him, her stomach getting in the way. “How have you been?”

“I’ve been uh good.” Reece had a lingering question on his mind but he didn’t want to be rude, if she wasn’t. “How are you? Life been treating you alright?”
