“i‘m sorry anakin, for all of it“
No because why is he so fine. Like actually what the hell.
I would do literally anything for him.
Ahsoka Tano Character Study | Inspiration from Rapunzel Character Study by Disney
absolutely transfixed by how bonkers your former padawan is being
I think clone wars dark side anakin is my favorite dark side anakin. because yeah, in the movies, you can tell he's gonna fall. maybe not in the phantom menace, but in attack of the clones and revenge of the sith, it's so obvious! everything about him just oozes both light and dark, the dark steadily winning. but clone wars anakin? clone wars anakin? oh, he's a sun. he's blindingly bright and he's happy. we can go full episodes without a trace of the dark side showing up on his face or in his actions, which makes when he does go dark even more jarring. when he snaps and attacks and the imperial march plays faintly in the background, when not even ten minutes earlier in the episode he was joking around with ahsoka. that is peak dark side anakin to me, because that is what i imagine anakin truly was. happy and fun and then snapping, terrifying. it's why no one believed it when he fell. why obi-wan and padme and ahsoka didn't see it coming.
i would like to say, that everyone who used to make fun on hayden's "bad delivery on his lines" should be eating their words. they are the same people being like "omg anakin's voice blended perfectly with darth vaders in the last episode of kenobi!" (we all know /that/ scene 🥲).
but the REASON WHY it works so well is because hayden DELIVERS HIS LINES LIKE VADER. he studied vaders mannerism and speech patterns in preparation for the prequels, so that there was a resemblance between vader and anakin. this is ALSO the reason why their voices mesh SO WELL together.
so let's all say a polite "thank you, hayden." :)
OKAY BUT as soon as Obi-wan found out Reva wanted to kill Anakin, Obi-wan in his grey and black Dark Sided robes legit yeeted Reva to her death
He was so angry too! The anger on his face when he was speaking to her in front of the troopers! That was protective Ben, the dark-sided component to Obi-wan in full plummage. Yes, he wants Vader dead but not ever at the expense of Anakin. If Reva was a direct threat to Anakin? Then Reva had to go. He is straight up saying "you better enjoy your last moments" here!
He legit used her as:
1. a distraction so he and the Path could escape
2. a test to weaken Vader by seeing if Anakin could come through and spare her (he did)
3. also just straight up threw her to the lions den like dgaf??? knowing she was 99% gonna die? he said "Anakin is more important to me" & that was so DARK SIDED OF HIM? I WAS SHAKEN? this is huge for obiwan??? BEN???
it was a really cool moment because a lot, a lot was going on in his head. this show is a gift.
Do you ever wonder what memory of Anakin made old Ben Kenobi smile when he told Luke that Anakin had been a good friend?
but they deserve it.

harkening back to hayden saying that vader is still fighting that duality!! and how he must have moments if lucidity bc damn even tho he’s hunting obi and tortures him, he still lets him go several times. like obi is weakened, vader can easily kill him. and while i’m sure he’s getting satisfaction from prolonging it, he’s obviously having trouble putting the final nail in the coffin

It's of course fair to criticize a performer's performance and the writers' writing of a character but where you tell on yourself is when you sandwich that 'valid criticism' between remarks about Moses's race. Comments like, "Inclusion was more important than finding a good actress", is just racism. The fact that her being Black was so profoundly remarkable to you that it led your critique implies you were always set out to be hypercritical of her performance and character. You've invalidated your criticism and you've exposed your racism and your bias.
in canon anakin and obi are described as "two halves of a single warrior", "closer than friends, closer than brothers", "knew each other more intimately than lovers", they "became men together" despite their age difference, best friends, "obi wan... always chasing after skywalker", "if kenobi was there skywalker was never far behind", "you were my brother anakin, i loved you!", "you're the closest thing i have to a father", "neither can imagine life without the other", erstwhile master and padawan, total equals, co-generals, brothers-in-arms, inseparable, "obi wan would want no other man by his side", anakin is in canon the only person Obi-wan ever says I love you to, obi wan is upset bc he imagined anakin would be with him when he died, ahsoka considers them in canon her adoptive parents, obi-wan watches over and raises anakin's kids from afar, anakin is both obssessed with and jealous of obiwan, obi wan literally longs for anakin and is undone with grief over losing him, they still have a vivid linked force connection 10 years after parting, obi wan buried their lightsabers together, anakin once ponders if he loves Obi-wan more than his wife
so literally any and all interpretations of their relationship are valid and correct, and id say their psychic/physical Force soul-bond transcends any single category and spills over into a soulmate love that is undefinable to our understanding of roles "on Earth" and is hopelessly tangled in the best of ways
“For me, across the prequels, through the original trilogy, there’s a love-story dynamic with [Obi-Wan and Anakin]”
“He’s loyal to people, not to principles. And he expects loyalty in return. He will stop at nothing to save me, for example, because he thinks I would do the same for him.”
Mace and Yoda gazed at him steadily, and Obi-Wan had to lower his head.
“Because he knows I would do the same for him.“
Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover
(Alternative Quotes 1/?)
For months I've been wondering why I couldn't help but think "Obi-Wan is a bottom".
Then I watched Halston on Netflix.
... I blame Ewan McGregor.
