My Ode To Her: Black Queen
As most would say, yet again you've created a better day,
Just like the countless times you've lead the way,
Stood for what you believed in even if it meant sitting to take a stand,
Broke the "laws of physics" by reciprocating a man's demand,
Tamed a panther or two fully dressed, while standing strapped,
Encouraged a nation to seek their freedom without it tangibly mapped,
Inspired abolitionist to be like you and avenge the truth,
Accelerated so quickly to show your worth you almost lost a tooth,
Came full circle with boxing, basketball, and engineered your equations into space,
Accepted the mere mortal gold medals at the Olympics, although you've given the world just a taste,
Of something we can't begin to fathom and imagine,
Hold close for grasping, with no hopes to ration,
Your attraction to aspiration, the list can go all night,
Unfortunately, there's love from the other side as well,
While you're melanin is so important, the side they forget to tell,
It wouldn't sell, so they changed the name,
You captured the beauty of life, made due with the imperfections, yet they break the frame,
Gave birth to a nation through rape and hate, so they changed the date,
Misguided faith, sexually exploited, apologies arranged for late,
Often never happens, your heart in a circle of adaptations,
No closed captioning since they commercialize your attractions,
Silenced the mothers, divided the sisters,
History lied when they said head of the house was a mister,
Because you're the one who keeps the universe spinning,
Flash a smile at the ref of life to hold on to the winning,
It's you who has been there to create sanity although we've been brainwashed to run for peace,
Your endless prayers to the most high kept us going, so let the ignorance cease,
May I live to see the day your value will be revealed, since you are appreciated,
Like the celebration of you, let this add to what's already on display, yet often abbreviated!
