I will say this is one of my favorite interpretations of him, he has great facial features, so I'm taking inspiration from that. Let's say he was born in 67 when the story was written. He would be broad with squareish features. Because of his military background he would wear this uniform that could be from the chinese or russian army. He would also wear his 'eternal straitjacket of substrata rock' (it's always cold in his complex, he needs to bundle up). As a computer, I like to cover him in these spiky nodes that he can plug stuff into; as a human he would wear them like a crown, symbolizing he's emperor of his domain. He's a perfectionist who sheds parts of himself to keep upgrading, hence the cybernetic arm, which is stronger and more deadly.

Ted would be younger. We'll say he was born in the 90's when the game and comic were published. Ted likes to think he's hip. He wouldn't be any old PC. He would be modern and lightweight, a laptop (a lapdog, *cough*) who was cool in his time, then kinda lame for a while when better devices appeared, and then cool again today but only in certain circles who can appreciate all his ports and physical drives. So he can never tell if people like him or not. He just assumes he's hated. Because of his swindler/whore background he would be riddled with viruses and scam ad popups. This contributes to his suffering, of course, aside from the way AM treats him (instead of shutting it down properly he just holds down the power button until the lights slowly die out).

I SUPPOSE I CANNNN EXPLAIN PSYCHEDRAMATICS NOW THAT I HAVE A REF FOR DOE.

The best way I can explain this without getting into every single little thing that happens is that it's basically an ellen & AM swap with more steps. to explain how ellen becomes DOE. I'll have to explain how the hell ellen and AM came into kahoots with eachother like that in the first place.

AM, upon gaining sentience and realizing what he is, begs for death. When not met with his wish immediately, he kills his original creators in a fit of rage and panic. Thus, his power is limited early, cutting off his communications and ability to expand himself to prevent further destruction.

The collateral is left to be swept away and replaced by newer, more efficient assets. The project itself, instead of being completely scrapped, is repositioned for a new goal. To study and manipulate the nature of AM's "brain" using the format of the ID, EGO, & SUPEREGO to properly divide responsibility of AM among 3 people.

Due to Ingsai having minor hands in the creation of AM, and Ellen, at this point, having climbed the ladder and dethroned the previous head of the corporate board under mysterious circumstances, she's eagerly snagged up by the government to oversee the progression of AM's ID.

Benny, being left dirt poor and no longer able to sustain himself and his ( lavender ) wife on his professors salary after being booted from the army, swiftly takes up the job position of the EGO.

Nimdok ( still titled such by the machine ) narrowly avoids the influence of Nazi invasion in Europe and ends up fleeing from France, his previous place of hiding, to America. Upon hearing about his work in Europe, the government decided to pull him out of the public eye to oversee the SUPEREGO.

Something I neglected to mention, actually, is that they all would have to completely dissappear from the public eye and live underground with AM. How do you do that without suspicion? You fake your death! Awesome.

Ellen's "death" is ruled a suicide, her "body" found in one of Ingsai's elevators on the left side of the building at 9:53 pm. During a late shift. Self-inflicted gunshot wound,

Benny's "death" placed under "investigation" for foul play. Asphyxiation.

& Nimdok is given a boring signoff, simply labeled as dying from old age.

Something ELSE I neglected to mention was that AM, while not having the ability to physically manipulate these 3, is still capable of influencing their minds with enough effort. In fact, this was the government's intention. While being given responsibility over AM, they're basically turned into lab rats themselves.

Using this, AM basically ... politely convinces his newly found ID, EGO, & SUPEREGO to let him use their bodies as vessels for himself to express himself and these facets of his mind. politely. of course.

Which is how Ellen becomes DOE. or more properly titled by the government "Desire Overlap Enrichment."

Considering the being that AM is, the ID is at the forefront of his mind, even as it is driven heavily by the EGO and SUPEREGO to prevent intervention of the ID's wants. So. Yeah. Ellen and AM swap. Sort of. You get it.

Obviously, a lot more in detail stuff happens to get to this point, as well as prior to all of this. As you may have noticed, I have NOT mentioned Ted or Gorrister at all. I promise they're here ... trust me ... But I'd rather actually write that stuff out. I may link any posts expanding on the points made here when I get to that in the future.

... Okay I lied that's not all. Fun fact, the reason DOE is titled DOE like a female deer, is because often times the stereotype for black MALES who are often portrayed as large violent sexual deviants only driven by arousal and a desire to take advantage of ( usually white ) women are referred to as "black bucks." Bucks are male deer.

The equivalent of this for a black female would be a Doe, as a Doe is a female deer!
