Pop Media & TV:

Staying in touch with the world and my friends consists mostly of twitter, instagram, email, cnn alerts, and theybf.com. Facebook has kind of fallen off the radar for me but I definitely still use it.

I mostly listen to hip hop and r&b. But I do love some classic rock and motown. I'm pretty eclectic (I know, everyone says that). I watch a lot of reality TV, won't lie. Love & Hip Hop, Teen Mom, and Basketball Wives being my favorites. Besides that, I'd say my top 3 shows these days are mad men, shameless, and girls. I also can watch SVU all day every day.

In regards to reality TV I love the drama. So the "best" or I like to say most entertaining shows are the ones with the crazy drama. Bad girls club, love and hip hop, basketball wives. I love a good chick brawl, cracks me up. I definitely have a little denial for watching these shows, but they are undoubtedly entertaining.

My favorites are Ellen and Chelsea Handler. I think it's because their funny isn't forced, its completely natural and is communicated with integrity. And they talk about real issues and confront them head on, instead of talking around it to be politically correct. I respect their honesty.

I don't really care if they take the shows I don't like off air because I simply avoid them. I can't think of a show where I'm like, this NEEDS to be taken off it's so bad.

I'd love to see some more interesting travel shows. LOVE Anthony Bourdain and his commentary. Now that's a good travel show. There aren't many of them.

On Being A Woman:

I think the best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun. JK Shania. I think the best thing about being a woman is getting to wear gorgeous clothes, the ability to have a baby, and generally being far more capable than men.

The biggest annoyances about being a woman include the obvious, such as unfair treatment in various respects and cultures. I'd say also the fun little delivery that comes once a month.

If you could change one thing for women today, what would it be? I would allow every woman to have complete control over her own body and the freedom of reproductive rights. It's a woman's body and should be a woman's choice.

Heroes, Role Models & Villains:

My mother is the person I most look up to in life. She is incredible and is the reason I want to be a psychologist. She is driven, passionate, and extremely successful. I do wish she was less controlling and had a bit more patience.

Not sure exactly what is meant by "out there" but I am not bothered by people with integrity that stay true to themselves and express that in whichever way they may see fit.

Annoyances and Issues:

In regards to society, ignorance and racism annoy me most, to put it plainly. The cost of rent in NY is definitely what annoys me the most about my life. Oh, and the fact money doesn't grow on trees.

I wish I could put food in every child's belly and a roof over every family's head. In my world, I really wouldn't change much, but I wish I owned a loft in Soho.

Hopes & Dreams:

I am definitely most excited and inspired by the fact that I am finally pursuing an educational career which will ultimately lead me to my professional goal of becoming a clinical psychologist.

This year, my main goals are performing at school, grinding at my internship, and mending my bruised heart after my break up.

Better doesn't necessarily need to be tangible, as in material things or a specific goal, but a better me is a happy me where I am truly satisfied by what I am accomplishing in my life.

A Week in The Life of _______:

A typical week day in the life of Ariel consists of many, many, subway rides. I’m a graduate student, a research intern, a nanny, and a young new york lady. I am either in class at Columbia, fulfilling my research responsibilities in the South Bronx, talking about farts with a 4 and 7 year old, or spending time with my lovely friends. Newly single, on the weekends I most look forward to going to happy hour and spending time galavanting outside. I love going to concerts, having a long dinner and not taking myself or others too seriously. I also enjoy drinking wine, trying something new, and not making plans. I’m also a sucker for laying in bed with a good SVU marathon.
