For this one, we couldn’t resist doing a fun little mashup of Genshin Impact × Elriel!

Just like Zhongli quietly follows Hu Tao through all her chaotic shenanigans, you know Azriel would do the exact same for Elain while they’re out spying together. Calm, composed, and utterly smitten while she sweet-talks information out of everyone in sight.

He’d be in the shadows, pretending to be focused on the mission, but really? He’s just making sure his sunshine doesn’t charm half of Prythian without him noticing. 😏

Azriel Appreciation Week

But Elain did not balk from him, did not shy away as she nodded—just once.

Azriel, graceful as any courtier, offered her an arm. I couldn’t tell if she was looking at his blue Siphon or at his scarred skin beneath as she breathed, “Beautiful.” Color bloomed high on Azriel’s golden-brown cheeks, but he inclined his head in thanks and led my sister toward the back doors into the garden, sunlight bathing them.

I hope, little by little, when Azriel looks at his scarred hands, he replaces the negative thoughts of himself with the word Elain uttered to him. Then one day, he will truly believe it. 🥹💗

For this prompt, I kept thinking about how long Azriel has followed orders, buried his wants, and silenced his heart. But even the most loyal soldier reaches a breaking point .

At some point, it’s inevitable. He’ll rebel. Against Rhysand’s command, against fate itself, against the idea that he isn’t allowed to want her. Because how long can a male resist what his soul already knows is his?

That kiss, the one he’s yearned for, dreamed of, denied himself a thousand times will happen. Because love like theirs can’t be contained by duty or fear.

Azriel Week // Rebel 

For today's prompt, I wanted to put a cheeky little spin on Azriel's rebellion. Given what we know of Azriel, Mr. "chain me to a tree, Rhys," we can be sure that he will not be obeying his High Lord's order to stay away from Elain. For this piece, I imagined Az sneaking around to meet Elain and some...shenanigans ensuing 🤭

It's interesting that when Madja said if anyone can sense when something is amiss, it's a mate, and told Lucien to sit with Elain, talk to her, and sense, he tried to rely on the bond itself to understand what was happening to her and failed. In contrast Azriel managed to understand what she was going through and realized that what she experienced were visions, not madness. He did this by spending time with her, listening to her, and recognizing in her struggles the same thing he had faced when his own power first emerged.

I think this was a deliberate juxtaposition between a bond that exists only to produce offspring and the soulmate bond. Lucien's connection to Elain is shallow based solely on the thread that binds him to her. He is not genuinely interested in forming a true connection with her. From the beginning his attitude was like take her to the garden or somewhere. Did he ever make a real effort to earn her forgiveness for betraying them, or to spend time with her and truly get to know her? No....because he's waiting for the bond to magically do the work. He appears from solstice to solstice, hoping Elain will suddenly change her mind simply because the bond exists.

For the same reason his interpretation of what Madja said was only to try to sense the bond in order to understand what was happening. But without emotion or true connection, he remained clueless. It's very surface level much like Rhys and Tamlin's parents, they weren't compatible or genuinely in love, but they tried to make it work because that's what was expected in Fae culture.

Azriel on the other hand was already doing what Madja had suggested without ever being told. He willingly wanted to help Elain, took her to the garden, spent time with her, listened to her, and made the effort to understand her ,his actions came from genuine care. Because of this he was the one who discovered that she is a seer. That's the soulmate bond, the bridge between souls, where the deep connection and emotions come first, and only then does the bond solidify, with both truly getting to know each other beforehand.

And why should he be nervous about asking wether to buy gifts for Feyre’s sisters?

Could it be because he has the biggest crush on Elain, one of Feyre’s sisters? Elain who he saved, Elain who called his hands beautiful, Elain who he gave Truthteller to.

I love that Elain and Azriel bring out both the light and the darkness in each other, and cherish both. The first time I saw artwork by iinnevvitable I was enthralled and knew I had to commission her. I love how she has captured both the light and darkness in Azriel, and how soft he is for Elain.

I really do understand that everyone has different tastes and preferences and all.

But not seeing the appeal in Azriel—the deadly, dark, powerful assassin and torturer of the Night Court—who would drop to his knees in a heartbeat for the soft-spoken, kind, gentle, petite woman that is Elain? The man who goes full protective mode the moment someone so much as breathes something negative about her—his shadows becoming her army? His rough hands—capable of horrors—so careful on her skin.

I’m sorry, I simply cannot relate. That’s me and my future husband vibes, fr fr.
