Get new music while supporting ACLU
Below is a list of a music that I think is worth buying. For one day only, Friday, Feb 3, beginning at 12:01 AM Pacific time, Bandcamp is donating their cut of the profits to the ACLU to help protect the American Constitution and our civil rights. You can listen to all releases on Bandcamp's site before you buy. Their statement:
https://daily.bandcamp.com/2017/01/31/bandcamp-human-rights/
"And so all day this Friday, February 3rd (starting at 12:01am Pacific Time), for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, we will be donating 100% of our share of the proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union, who are working tirelessly to combat these discriminatory and unconstitutional actions."
Please wait until 12:01 AM Pacific time (3:01 AM Eastern, 2:01 AM Central, 8:01 AM GMT, 9:01 CET) to purchase to ensure that the ACLU gets the donation.
Bandcamp is my favorite music retailer and digital store. Digital purchases come with choice of file format, so you can get quality higher than what most other stores provide, and they also give you access to stream the music. That goes for when you buy either physical or digital formats.
Follow me there if you'd like to see what I'm buying.

A*O*A - I'm Afraid of Americans : INAUGURAL REMIXES (single + remixes)
https://a-o-a.bandcamp.com/…/im-afraid-of-americans-inaugur…
An excellent cover of Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans" plus eight remixes.
From big business desecrating sacred Native American burial grounds and putting our nation's water supply at risk re: DAPL, to the blind racism, police brutality and hate crimes that have given birth to BLM, to Donald Trump being inaugurated, WE'VE HAD ENOUGH. We have chosen to exercise our First Amendment rights while paying respect to David Bowie (and Trent Reznor/NIN) by licensing/covering this song. LAST: $1.00 from every Maxi-Single (or 0.50 from each individual download) sold benefits the #NODAPL Legal Fund
Go Fight - Pussy (single)
https://gofight.bandcamp.com/album/pussy
Two track single. Dance floor-ready, pussy-grabbing electroscuzz from Chicago.
Go Fight write music about the world around them, so there is a lot of great protest music and political commentary in their discography. You can get their whole discography for $28.70 at the time this post went up.
Nyxx - Nightmare [EP]
https://nyxxnyxxnyxx.bandcamp.com
Dark and stompy electronic rock with female vocals. Nyxx is currently on tour with Aesthetic Perfection and Solar Fake and I'm really looking forward to seeing her in Minneapolis.
Favorite track: Diabolical
The Rope - Waters Rising (EP)
https://therope1.bandcamp.com/album/waters-rising
Post-punk out of Minneapolis. These guys are phenomenal and you should do yourself a favor and spend $5 on this EP if you dig post-punk or goth rock or just generally rock with synths. And while you're at it, buy their debut self-titled EP, too. You're welcome.
Favorite tracks: Suffer and Clockwork
STRVNGERS - STRVNGERS (album)
https://strvngersngp.bandcamp.com
One of my favorite new bands and this has been in constant rotation in my car. Sonically they cover a lot of ground on this album. Opening track Nostalgia and Shape Shifter have a Siouxsie crossed with 80s pop sound, Dressed to Kill is synth poppy, Chemically Enslaved is a sensual and groovy track perfect for the dance floor. This is a very impressive debut album!
Favorite track: Nostalgia hits me with the feels.
KANGA - KANGA LP
https://kangangp.bandcamp.com
Sultry and danceable. This one was produced by Rhys Fulber of Conjure One, Delirium, and Front Line Assembly, so you know the production quality is top notch.
Favorite tracks: Viciousness, Vital Signs
The Foreign Resort - The Foreign Resort (2016 Vinyl Re-issue)
https://theforeignresort.bandcamp.com/…/the-foreign-resort-…
Darkwavey post-punk from Copenhagen. Great stuff! This is a pretty accurate description: “Fans of driving, guitar-laiden music with a slight 80′s new wave and post-punk feel will love this band and especially this EP, go pick it up!” – Gothic Paradise
Favorite tracks: Take a Walk, Orange Glow
The Sweetest Condition - We Defy Obliviion

The Sweetest Condition - Edge of the World

Collide - The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum (single)
https://collide1.bandcamp.com/…/the-lunatics-have-taken-ove…
Unwoman - Uncovered, Volume 3 (covers LP)
https://unwoman.bandcamp.com/album/uncovered-volume-3
Her covers are always extremely well done and she chooses a range of big hits and more obscure songs. Also check out Unwoman's original work. The Fires I Started is my favorite, as it is more electronic, but everything she does is good. You can get her full discography in a couple of different formats for a STEAL!
Favorite tracks: Cry Little Sister, Live to Tell
Inertia - Existential
https://metropolisrecords.bandcamp.com/album/existential
Miss FD - Comfort for the Desolate (EP)
https://missfd.bandcamp.com/album/comfort-for-the-desolate
Favorite tracks: Lover of Fate, Never Felt Better
Kidneythieves - The Mend
https://kidneythieves.bandcamp.com/album/the-mend
After a mediocre rock-heavy comeback album in Typ0fanatic, I wasn't sure what to expect with the followup. The Mend brings electronics back to the forefront and the album exceeded my expectations.
Junksista - Bad Case of Fabulous
https://alfamatrix.bandcamp.com/…/bad-case-of-fabulous-bonu…
Collide - Counting to Zero (LP)
My favorite Collide album. Sultry, trip-hoppy, dark, and eclectic. Collide are always solid. Favorite track: Lucky 13.
https://collide1.bandcamp.com/album/counting-to-zero
Alter Der Rune - I Remember It All Differently (album)
https://adrngp.bandcamp.com
Jordan Reyne - Best Of (LP)
https://jordanreyne.bandcamp.com/al…/jordan-reyne-best-of-lp
Jordan's music is a blend of irish/ celtic rock, steam-era machine noise, and Grimms fairytale-eske lyrics. Imagine PJ Harvey trapped in the workhouses of Industrial Revolution era England, with only Nine Inch Nails for company.
Johnny Hollow - A Collection of Creatures
https://johnnyhollow.bandcamp.com/…/a-collection-of-creatur…
There's cello. Need I say more?
You can also get their full discography (7 releases) for $34.44 from the link on any of their releases.
