So what do you think is wrong with whitebeard anyway?
You mean besides being an old man suffering the cumulative effects of an extremely violent life?
Anyway, I’ve worked in long term care my whole career, so a setup like this is way beyond my ken, but I’ll give it a shot. All things considered, Whitebeard’s a bit of a hot mess
First thing I notice is that Whitebeard is on oxygen, which makes me think heart or respiratory failure of some kind. One typically leads to the other, but the big ol’ scar across his chest makes me think he’s had some pretty significant heart damage in the past. The neck and both chest infusions all look to be central lines, which can be used to deliver both fluids and medication but could also theoretically be used for monitoring levels for a more accurate hemodynamic assessment. Unless one of those bags hanging is an antibiotic or something, I would guess most of the medication he’s getting is to keep his blood pressures stable.
(As an aside I have no idea why the two lumens on the left line merge together into one. Usually when you’ve got a double line one is used for medication and the other for blood draws. I’m willing to chalk it up to artistic license, but it’s bugging me immensely.)
He’s probably getting a blood transfusion in the left arm. I wondered for a second if it might be some kind of dialysis setup, but any fluids or medication he got while undergoing a procedure like that would just be stripped from his system so I doubt it. I do think the line from his abdomen is to draw off fluid, though. You see that sometimes with end stage liver failure, and one of his nurses did try to stop drinking so heavily (although that could just as easily have to do with all the meds he’s getting. Alcohol doesn’t play nice with others).
I will admit Whitebeard definitely does not have the look of someone with cirrhosis, but I’m again willing to chalk that up to artistic license. Kind of hard to look badass when you’re skin turns sickly yellow and you’ve got a pot belly full of water that needs drained every couple of days.
My personal theory is that every time he adopted a son, Whitebeard’s heart grew a size, Grinch-style, and now he’s got really bad cardiomegaly
I like these theories to cartoons lol.
Do I want this? Yes. Do I need this? Also yes.

I saw a tik tok video about nadya okamoto advocate to not have companies not say feminine products for menstruation products like tampons and pads etc. I totally understand the purpose of doing that as a FTM person myself. But how she went about it in her tik tok video made it seem cringy and preachy. She is a cisgender female that was trying to advocate for the trans FTM community that didnt seem realistically applicable. Her whole approach is about that people should not be shamed about menstruation because it been stigmatized for ages and lets be period positive. I am not saying this applies to all FTM but most trans FTM would try to hide their period for their safety rather than being embarrassed about it. Periods can out FTM or gnc people with utereus because it can expose them to people who are dangerous and uncomfortable about the mere existence of transgender people. Not comforming to societal standards of gender can/will put people in danger. Periods can be a source a huge dysphoria for FTM who sees it as a reminder of what cannot be full realized as their gender identity. FTM has to use stalls to the bathroom and having a dirty tampon or pad in the bathroom trash can mean possible endangerment of being exposed as a "fake." I mean is that periods can be trigger for distressing gender dysphoria. So Nadya being a CEO of August tampons, she is has to sell her products to make her company grow and money at the end of the day. Even if she doesn't realize it, she is making money off of selling menstruation products and advertising to relate to FTM or gender non-conforming folks with uteruses. It is still a company after all that needs to make money at the end of the day. Her being a CEO doesnt make it any better that she is making money off of advertising tampon products and she inadvertently wants the FTM or gnc community to buy her products and advertise her products. To be publicly showing off and to be proud or ones period to promote her brand. She makes video about educating people about changing the term "feminine products" to menstruation products, without giving context or explanation of how that term can affect trans people in real detail. Tik tok videos are short and people still question the existence of trans people but she could have explained what specific demographic of people who would benefit from this term change. She just says that term is outdated and not every menstruation products apply to girls all the time. Beyond that there isn't the who, what or reason why. I could say another conversation of why i think Nadya is weird but idk why. This issue is deeply personal to me and I just feel like cis people trying to cover trans topics is like a white person lecturing in asian american studies. It just doesnt work. She coulda uplifted trans people voices in her video by having a trans people talk about it in her account and using her platform but whatever. Its her account and i think it really needs nuance from trans people to explain this topic more. At the end of the day I still feel uncomfortable about her making video about it with the association that she has a product to sell and i wanna seem cool to FTM or gnc to buy my product vibe. There were comments on that video of FTM being empowered by Nadya taking about this term change and good on them for feeling like they can be proud of who they are but this topic is layer and it is not safe for other people in the FTM and gnc community.
I wanted to start off why I orginally liked the try guys. I will be blunt that I latched on to try guys because of Eugene period. (YB as well cause korean) At first it was like OMG a Korean American doing funny stuff and he is famous. I can see myself being reflected in popular media as a high school kid. As a younger teen I did not see much korean american famous people other than sandra oh and daniel dae kim and some other people I may forget. Then when he came out as a Gay korean american I was like OMFG. I can see my identity be reflected in popular mainstream media. My identity felt like it was always in conflict like they should never coexist with each other. When Eugene made that huge production video about coming out I was in awe. He literally made a video showing me that my identity can exist together and not be seperate. To be frank it was easier to hate my korean identity than my LGBT identity. Right before he came out I thought those identity could not exist together. I see things as black and white at times but I wanted to preserve those identity together. It was so amazing to see those things come together and someone like me could exist and embrace both parts.
I wanna say I like watching the other guys because they grew on me and they were endearing to me. But nothing will compare to the impact and impression of what eugene did to express himself in a landscape that was not meant for people like him and me.
Moving onto the ned scandal will say that when I see Ned being jealous of Eugene and looking back ned would be unesscessary competitive and jealous of Eugene “overacheiving” for any activity/hobby. I see now Ned only care about to win to beat people and feed his ego. Eugene was overacheiving for his protective instinct of if people saw me as a failure then im nothing to everyone. Especially being an asian gay kid in Texas. Then Euguen would have this instinct like oh if im weak then I will be harassed and bullied. I cannot appear weak in this lion den. While Ned was obviously raised in priviledge and being able to get into Yale. So any pettty over reaction when he lost was just out of feeding his ego. I personally was like watching Ned being like ok I watch him cause I grew to slightly like him. Ned had everything and having a white wife and white kids. It is what American is built to support. Idk if I will get over this Ned thing cause he branded himself of being the loving husband and I want some stability in media. I know I shouldn’t project myself onto media but still.
I can’t wait until my sense of taste is back. This cup of tea tastes like hot water. :(
Don’t worry, that’s normal for tea.

Reframe the narrative: Capitalists refuse to pay thriving wages.
