Black Is King/Black Is Q(ueer)ing A Thread on queerness in the African tradition. https://t.co/kRAqBHX3S5
Many Africans have been told that Queerness isn’t indigenous to African. This rhetoric has led to several homophobic and transphobic laws an
I want to be clear that these posts are not perpetuating the false idea that precolonial Africa was a Utopian paradise without issues of class or hierarchy. Precolonial African traditions of gender & sexual variance still had its issues. I also want to be clear that certain African peoples, both pre and post colonialism, do not have the same language for gender as Western or other societies do-for ex: the Yoruba people.
Here is a wonderful thread addressing these topics in addition to confirming the presence of people in precolonial Africa who were not what we consider cisheterosexual-filled with book recommendations, full PDFs and various text resources
We have asserted that precolonial African traditions of gender/sexual variance are not ideal/utopic—that they still involve labor divisions,
The European gender binary reinforces sexual dualism based on genitals. In Ifi Amadiume’s seminal work, we get a glimpse into how a society
Enough of us do not even realize how much of a post-colonial white-supremic world we still live in. Things like racism, the gender binary, homophobia are all concepts and inventions of the european influence on us globally.
Too many times I have read about a pre-colonial culture (the fact that I even have to say pre colonial 🙄) where I read that certain things were or were not common practice until Europeans arrived and forced their culture on everybody and then used Christianity to justify it while they were enslaving, raping, kidnapping, and committing genocide. And there are actual poc who can’t see pass the eurocentricity of literaly EVERYTHING because it’s what we were raised to think and believe and were never exposed to anything that would suggest otherwise.
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
The full picture is even more heart breaking after you open the uncropped version. Just a heads-up, it's rough

Nah let’s post it. Let’s feel it. Don’t look away.
I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.
Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.

DANGER OF EVICTION & DEPORTATION I am Jah (blackbaberevolution or blackboyrevolution), I am an bi nb Jamaican immigrant on a student permit living in the Bahamas (once was undocument in America) because of my status, I am unable to work legally, or have a bank account, and must stay in school to stay in the country. My controlling abusive mother cut me off recently because she’s a ultra christian bigot and found out I was having sex with a guy behind her back (i’m 23). She’s not paying for my school (despite me maintaining a 3.50+ Gpa), and threatened to kick me out. Though I have places to stay I need money for food, transportation and to pay for the minimum amount of classes to stay in the country. I tried to handle this on my own for a month now but I have no choice now. Please give any help you can, whether it’s a reblog or a dollar. Help me survive during and after quarantine. my friends’ paypal account: [email protected] PS: please send a message on paypal saying, “for Jah” so my friend knows the donation is for me. Message me privately on tumblr if you want proof of my unstable immigration status or grades. Last day for school payments is Aug 5. 2020 and my permit expires in september. I am a writer and I can write ficlet with an edit if you want one. <3 Thank you.
Thank you everyone who donated. I know it’s a whole lotta broke people being generous. I’m 1/3 of the way there. But I’m still in deep and reblogs have stalled. Please continue to reblog.
