Here’s our proposal for the 2019 Pulp Paper Art Party! We’ll be twisting together many strips of paper into rope and creating a branching entry way.
The canopies looked amazing in Geary Lane, with the help of the colourful party lighting. The project took a total of 7 weeks, from the initial concept to completing the final panel, with only a month to fold all the paper together.
There is a total of 1974 folded intersections, holding together 1870 strips of paper. All the paper was reclaimed from Mona’s Design Studio projects.
We are hoping to have the chance to show this project again at other exhibitions around Toronto. Hopefully more news about this soon.
On January 14th, we participated in the 2017 Pulp: Paper Art Party. This is the second time we created an art installation for this event. Our previous project for the party, Illuminous, was a set of hanging screens woven together from strips of folded recycled paper.
This time, we wanted to further explore some ideas that we incorporated into the woven screens. We developed a new method of folding the paper to create net-like canopies. Like last time, there are no fasteners holding the paper together, only the folding method.
We folded six canopies ranging in size from 1.5′ to 5′, for a total area of over 60 sq.ft. The sizes of the strips of paper varied to achieve a large, medium, and small net density.
At the Pulp Paper Art Party, the canopies were hung at the entrance, and created an intimate threshold experience.
In collaboration with IDS Integrative Design Strategies, Evan created a proposal for the 2017 Winter Stations Design Competition. The proposal uses snow fencing to trace out the wind patterns in the sand, and create a maze around a life guard station on a Toronto beach.
Our work in progress for the 2017 Pulp Paper Art Party. It's a canopy made by folding steps of paper together, without any mechanical fasteners or glue. This one is 5 x 5 feet.
We will be taking part in the Pulp: Paper Art Party 2017. Our proposal is to build a series of canopies by folding strips of recycled paper together. The folding pattern interlocks the strips, and no additional fasteners are required.
The party is January 14th, 2017 at Geary Lane in Toronto. More information about the event, and tickets are available at: http://pulpartparty.ca/
Our first attempt at casting! Plaster from silicone negative from a really awesome tree.
This is a solution page I put together for the last week’s puzzle presented in my new favourite podcast “Recent Paper Decent Puzzle”.

New competition work up! Our entry for the Ship Point Pop-Up Design Competition in Victoria.
In celebration of the lunar new year, Mona started a little side project illustrating a couple of different lunar calendars of the world.
Mona's work project with officemb, the overall design scheme for the Urbanarium exhibit now on at the Museum of Vancouver.
Here’s our submission for the 2016 Toronto Winter Stations Design Competition. By freezing fabric into billowing forms, the pavilion changes shape as the temperature rises, and the fabric thaws.
Looking through the ground to the sky--- a landscape installation for ARCH 425, done with a great group of people!
Many thanks to @studiorobazzo for showing us around their shiny new studio and the beautiful city of Victoria this weekend! Check out their Drifted collection here: http://drifted.ca/
