A knight finds a tower in the middle of the woods. In residence is a dragon and a princess. He assumes that the dragon kidnapped the princess and is holding her hostage - but the opposite turns out to be true: the princess kidnapped the dragon.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" The high pitched scream stopped the knight in his tracks. But only for a second for there is still this gigantic fire breathing dragon in front of him. Not a second too late he jumped to the side to dodge the next attack.
"I asked you, what you think you're doing!" The voice now more quiet, but closer rang up again. He could see the person belonging too it, now. A princess, of course, small, with short brown hair, dressed in pink trousers and a sweatshirt with a cuddly teddy bear on it was staring at him from besides the beast.
"My Lady! Take cover! I will kill this beast and save you!"
"You will what exactly? You will... Oh come on Xentra, sit, down. You will kill her?" At her command the dragon stopped his (her?) attacks, lay down, put his head on his front paws and only stared at him with an dangerous gaze in her eyes.
"Why would you do that?" - "Because.. because.." suddenly at a loss of words he stared at this pair in front of him, not knowing if they are playing a trick on him. "Because it's a DRAGON?!!" "I know, obviously?" The princess didn't seem to understand his confusion, which deepend at the fact that now she was petting the beasts head, which was responded with a deep growling coming from its chest.
"But that's no reason to kill her. I don't go around killing your pets, do I? This is Xentra, my dragon. And if you would be nice, you would put away your sword and introduce yourself. She doesn't really like people going around with sticks, childhood traumata I think. But she is quite nice, if you let her."
He just stood there. The hand with the sword in it just dangling at his side, his gaze flickering between this 7m beast who could easily stamp him into the ground and this 1,60m girl, who in no ways is any dangerous except for the fact that she calls a dragon her pet, and he surrenders. Without another look he turns around, puts away his sword, gets up on his horse and leaves behind this place in which reality seems to be altered.
"Oh well." the girl turned to Xentra, shrugged, gave her a final clasp on her nose and walked back into her castle. "Seems that modernism still hasn't reached the fairy tales. Hopefully one day their will come a prince who is able to differentiate between the monster he sees and the real monster in this castle."
As she walks back, you can see a dark glimmer in her eyes that tells you, that the dragon isn't here to rptext her. It's here to protect everyone else. And if one day, some idiot kills it, you couldn't withstand the storm that it would cause. For there are few things more frightening than a kind girl who was pushed over the edge.
