You know Mulder is going to make Scully watch the finals tonight, his beloved Knicks. And he’s going to convince Scully that their daughter can stay up pass her bedtime ( Scully will give in too).
"Scully, I want you to... put aside your scientific bias for a moment. Because what I'm about to tell you is going to change your life forever. Your life, my life the life of everybody on this planet."
Fight the Future is an intensely passionate, romantic movie if you peel back the layers of two lonely, frightened, and devoted yet cryptic communicators.
Let's take a peek at Scully's arc, shall we?
"BUT YOU SAVED ME"
During their professional review, Scully takes the fall, insisting she'd hindered her partner, led Mulder astray-- a belief that has been haunting her since his loss of faith (post here.)
Their office is burned, their lives have become passionless grunt work.
But on her way out, she leaves the door metaphorically open for Mulder:
"Maybe you should ask yourself if your heart's still in it, too."
An invitation to join her, come with her, if he chooses.
When Mulder doesn't respond, she lingers in the hall, alone.
That night, Scully lies in a two-person bed, the camera panning slowly over to the empty side where a pillow remains.
Alone. Perhaps ready.
When Mulder knocks, she lets him in; when he slurs over his words, she asks,
"Are you drunk, Mulder?"
Perhaps ready.
When he deflects with a joke (a half joke, but she doesn't know), as always--
"What exactly are you implying?"
--Scully drops her head: another gentle rebuff, she believes. Mulder wants her for the work... and nothing more.
"Go home, Mulder. it's late," she says, weary.
Still, she comes along. She stays.
Until they fail.
She failed him (Scully believes.)
If she could have helped, at least it would justify staying. Instead, it's yet another sign she holds him back. Now, his one devotion might never be returned to him.
Now, she believes, he'll have lost it all.
Perhaps if she leaves-- takes full blame-- at least he will be no worse off. Mulder might even be able to crawl back to the basement someday.
When Scully announces her departure and begs him not to make this
hard-- don't fall apart, don't give him fuel to talk you down, help him let you go or else he won't--she suspects he will follow.
When he does, she prepares for a fight.
Mulder has never let go easily.
What she doesn't expect, what she hadn't hoped for, is his all-consuming devotion--
"But you saved me! You've kept me honest ... you've made me a whole person. I owe you everything ... Scully, and you owe me nothing."
She is what he needs. She is his salvation.
So, she believes.
And he proves her beliefs by going to the ends of the earth for her.
As a revival disliker, this book isn’t too bad. It does its best to fix My Stuggle IV. Worth at least a skim through if you consider the revival as canon.

I blame FOX, Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, the casting, the other writers, the FOX PR for all of it. Chris Carter for being a stubborn showrunner who didn’t want to realize that he didn’t have his finger on the pulse of the time anymore and for not knowing shit about how the fandom ticks.
Gillian and David for letting him do his BS even tho they both knew/know better. Their personal BS getting mixed up with the show.
The FOX PR who should have known to at least make one appearance for promotional reason with the two of them.
The Casting for doing a shit job (Karen excluded)
The other writers for recycling ideas from black mirror and other shows…
All in all don’t blame the viewers for not being into it if y'all didn’t give it your best. Don’t blame the viewers for not watching something the actors themselves didn’t like either. Maybe just maybe admit that you both DD and GA should have done something about CC’s BS storyline when you had the chance. Now that it’s done, just leave it and shut up about it tbh because it’s not helping anyways and it certainly isn’t changing a thing.
The one thing I’m bitter about is that the last kiss we got was 10!!!!years ago. We got cheated out of one of the best on screen relationships and just let that wound heal in peace!
THIS! At last one fan who is not an a*s kisser! They all failed. And don’t start with the “she was the only promoting the show”. She uploaded selfies with David, yes, but she also said in written interviews that she wasn’t happy and her smiles were fake. Not to mention that she shouldn’t have insisted on the “that’s it for me” while the season was still airing on TV. So her tweet is hypocritical. I love her as an actress but I’m not blind. She sabotaged season 11.
I often see thoughts here and there that Mulder and Scully became romantic against their creator's wishes, or in spite of Chris Carter's aversion to sexuality in this or that form.
Guys.
What we got on-screen? That's what CC feels is romantic. A meeting of the minds that blooms into unspoken attractive (yes, sexual tension.) Sapiosexuality at its finest.
He's admitted to casting DD and GA for their chemistry and discussed the Mulder-Scully relationship dynamic as early as Season 1. He's offered his leads opportunities to bare themselves on-screen (Fight the Future), teased David and Krycek about their Red and the Black kiss ("closer to the mouth!"), wrote in a smooch for Scully/Skinner in Triangle, let Mulder and Scully have (off-screen) sex with other characters, slipped in the season of secret sex (yes, that was his doing), and asked Gillian if he could insert a scene in all things confirming M/S had slept together.
(Mulder and Scully's abstinence from each other was solely to preserve the dynamic of the show. If it were otherwise, he wouldn't have written in their, albeit implied, sex scenes in all things, Requiem, I Want to Believe, and the Revival.)
Everything we did and didn't see is what Chris Carter believes to be (as he described Existence's kiss) "hot."
And to be honest, I think we'd all make our peace with that fact if he didn't wrestle with (and gaslight) fans so often.
First and foremost, ignore the clickbait. This is a new directors cut of ‘I want to Believe’
I’ll always respect this movie because it’s the reason why I got into The X Files. But the last few times I’ve watched IWTB I haven’t enjoyed it as much (except for the glorious MSR scenes of course!)
I hope this new directors cut makes the movie better, but I’ll be honest, I don’t have much hope because the entire premise of the movie isn’t scary or interesting.
David Duchovny on Season 9:
"I Had Trouble Understanding Most of It"
Wherein David Duchovny remains confused about the mythology, cracks a few lighthearted jokes, and mentions a water balloon fight.

If the truth really is out there, Mulder and Scully have one more episode to find it. After nine seasons, “The X-Files” will close this Sunday. David Duchovny, who returns for the finale, spoke with NEWSWEEK’s Devin Gordon about saying goodbye.
[Q:] Can you spill any details about the finale?
[DD:] You know, I had trouble understanding most of it, so I’m not sure how much I can help. It’s a return to what [series creator] Chris Carter calls “the mythology”: certain people in the government—most of whom have Canadian accents, for some reason—are making deals with the aliens to save their own skin.
[Q:] A lot of fans stopped watching the show after you left and that new guy came.
[DD:] I don’t think anybody but my mom stopped watching. Actually not even her. My mom would call me and say, “That Robert Patrick, I love him!”
[Q:] Really?
[DD:] No.
[Q:] If I pay you, will you tell me how the series ends?
[DD:] Well, it ends like all great things do in life. [ Long pause ]

[Q:] How frustrating has it been trying to escape from the shadow of Fox Mulder?
[DD:] It was frustrating at first. But eventually you come to grips with the fact that this is an iconic character and it’s not gonna go away. So I don’t struggle against it anymore. I just say, “Thank you.” If I can come up with an iconic character every decade, I’ll be happy.
[Q:] Rumor has it there was some water-gun combat while you were making the finale.
[DD:] Yeah, it’s easy for me: I can spray people but when they turn on me, I just say, “Hey, I’m in wardrobe. You’ll get in trouble.”
[Q:] Or, “I’m David Duchovny and I can fire you.”
[DD:] Yes, it’s very frustrating to get into a water-gun fight with me. But look, it was very hot out there. I was just trying to make people more comfortable.

As far as the ongoing mythology of the show, “We were just trying to keep up,” Duchonvy said. “I stopped trying to follow it,” Anderson said. Some of the mythology came out of practical concerns, such as when Anderson got pregnant and to excuse her absence, her character was abducted. “I don’t think Chris ever had an idea that it was going to be a part of the show, let alone the part of the show that people liked the most,” Duchovny said. “I don’t think Chris had an endgame, until the very end. I could be wrong.”
