psychiatrists: *diagnoses almost everyone who has depression as a symptom with mdd because it’s easy*
psychiatrists: *immediately prescribes ssris regardless of the fact that they can be extremely dangerous to people with other illnesses*
anti self-dxers: you need to see a psychiatrist because misdiagnosing yourself is The Most Dangerous Thing and also is single handedly responsible for the stigma around mental illness

neurodivergent = neurodevelopmentally disordered (autism, adhd, motor disorders, etc.) neuroatypical = mentally ill (depression, anxiety, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, etc.) neurotypical = non-mentally ill and non-neurodevelopmentally disordered
I thought people just moved from using neuroatypical to neurodivergent because neuroatypical was only one letter away for neurotypical and that was confusing for some people? I mean I get what you’re saying but honestly both words mean virtually the same thing?
Also wasnt neurotypical invented by autistic people to describe people who werent autistic
i also thought the person who coined neurodivergent intended for it to be used to describe anyone whose mental processes differ from "normal"? curious abt this because i am allistic and dont want to appropriate a term used exclusively by ppl on the autism spectrum, and ive always felt comfort in the word neurodivergent so i wanna set shit straight

i, personally would love to not be mentally ill, and yet
Zoloft was the worst med I've ever taken. If you want me to be honest I'd never had more suicidal thoughts than when I was on Zoloft. I've taken Xanax before as well and it really helped me not be so stupid.
oh shit thank u for the heads up :( ive taken xanax before and it really calmed me down when i was having rlly intense panic attacks / mood swings / felt like i couldn’t control myself so i just wanna take it in emergency situations

still trying. got prescribed sertraline and alprazolam today, though i was v hesitant to reveal too much to a primary care doctor so he made that prescription decision based on my history of emergency room visits for panic attacks and self-reported depression and anxiety ???
