Shooting References in Tv and Movies

King of the Hill- Mike Judge told the story of a letter he received regarding the King of the Hill episode “Wings of the Dope”, in which a protagonist’s deceased boyfriend visits her in the form of an angel. The episode premiered on May 4, 1999, two weeks after the shooting, and the fan who wrote to Judge had been inside the school during it; she credited the episode with helping her allow herself to grieve a friend of hers she was in love with and, during the shooting, decided to finally tell only to find out later that he was one of the shooters (because of this she had been pressured to repress her feelings)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Postponed after they were to air soon after the shootings. The first was the episode “Earshot”. Though the episode had to do with school violence, there is a scene reminiscent of the University of Texas at Austin’s shooting. Also “Graduation Day, Part Two” was delayed by almost two months after the shootings because of the scene where the students are wielding weapons. It was only aired after The WB received “thousands of letters demanding that the finale be aired

Family guy- in the episode “Brian and Stewie” Brian and Stewie are trapped in a safe and when Stewie questions Brian about his owning of a Gun, Stewie says "You are spewing all that liberal Crap about stricter gun laws, you cried after Columbine.” In another episode, “ Road to Rupert” Stewie and Brian arrive in Colorado where there is a sign that says “Colorado, more than just Kobe and Columbine”. It references the infamous alleged rape case of the NBA star Kobe Bryant, and the Columbine High School shooting.

Law and Order- The episode “School Daze” was based on the massacre at Columbine High School.

Family Guy- In the episode “Trading Places" Peter is pretending to be a high school student. He wears a black trench coat and holds a shotgun saying he wants to get back at the popular kids who ignored him. When Lois tells him he’s a normal high school student, Peter calls someone named Lance, trying to tell him "it” was off, but Lance starts shooting anyway. This is another reference to Columbine because if Peter went along with it, there would be two gunmen.

One Tree Hill- episode “With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept” was partially based on the massacre

Generation Kill- after a marine kills two Iraqi children another marine refers to him as a ‘Dylan Klebold wannabe’.

I have had enough of these people in the tcc condoning and romanticising these killers then saying they don’t condone. I am ashamed to say I was one of them before, defending these killers’s actions, insulting those who questioned me, when I was 15 it took me 4 years to realise that it’s wrong. Now I am 19 and I will not tolerate this.

There is no excuse for killing innocent people. Finding sympathy in killers because “they were heavily bullied and were outcasts.” It does not give them the right to kill people. Hundreds if not millions of people in the world have it worse than being bullied in high school yet they power through it.

I understand being young and misunderstood by the world makes you sympathise with murderers like Eric and Dylan. But in the end what they did ended the lives of 13 innocent victims.

It’s not cool and edgy to obsess over killers it’s disprespectful to the victims and their families and friends.

Times Jeffrey Dahmer’s Murders Could Have Been Discovered

- (June 1978) Dahmer was driving to a place he could dispose of Steven Hicks’ remains when he was pulled over by police for drifting over the center line. They noticed the trash bags in the back seat but didn’t ask to look inside them.

- (While Jeff was still living at Grandma’s) Lionel once looked into trash bags that had a foul odor and asked Jeff about them; he gave an excuse about dissecting roadkill, but the bags contained human remains.

- (September 1988) Police searched Dahmer’s apartment after his arrest for taking photos of the older Sinthasomphone boy. Richard Guerrero’s skull was in a drawer, and Jeff was waiting in jail for six days thinking they would confront him with this fact, but they had missed it.

- (March 1989) Lionel came across a locked metal and wood box at Catherine Dahmer’s house, and Lionel insisted that Jeff open it to show him what was inside. Jeff refused to, because it contained the preserved head and genitals of Anthony Sears. Jeff left the house angrily, Lionel took the box to the basement and was about to pry it open when Jeff returned and told him there was pornographic material inside and that he would open it up the next day. Lionel agreed with this plan, and Jeff switched out the body parts for pornographic literature to reveal to his dad.

- (late March 1989-May 1990) Dahmer kept Anthony Sears’ skull, painted gray, in his work locker until he moved into the Oxford Apartments. His locker was once searched and the skull was found, but the investigators thought it was fake.

- (May 1991) After a murder on the third floor of the Oxford Apartments (Jeff lived on the second floor), police interviewed the tenants. They came into Jeff’s apartment and asked if they could look around; he consented and yet they didn’t look around. If they had looked in his bedroom they would’ve seen the dead body that was laying on the bed. The third floor murder was discovered May 3, 1991, so the body was either Tony Hughes or Konerak Sinthasomphone.

- (May 1991) Police returning Konerak to Dahmer didn’t recognize the smell of corpses, or suspected it but didn’t investigate more deeply. They also did not look Dahmer up, even after Glenda Cleveland called to follow up on the incident.

Randy Janzen, a Canadian father of two daughters, left a chilling Facebook status detailing the slayings of his entire family on May 7th, 2015, ten days after the murders. Randy had no criminal record, nor did he have a known history of homicidal or suicidal tendencies. In the status update, he claimed his 19-year-old daughter, Emily, was suffering from severe migraines, so he felt it was duty to terminate her pain. By doing so, he shot her in the head. He then shot his wife, Laurel, so she wouldn’t have to hear about her daughter’s death. Lastly, he killed his own sister, Shelly, so she wouldn’t have to ‘’live with this shame’’. Randy never suffered any consequences for the unjust murders of his family, as he lit his house on fire and ended his life with a long-barrel gun after having a stand-off with the SWAT team.

The Killer Inside the Bed

On August 10, 2011 in east London, Heathrow Airport Radisson employee Attila Ban, 32, murdered fellow employees, Tibor Vass, 20, and Alice Adams, 20, while drinking in the hotel’s staff accommodation room. Ban, openly homosexual, developed an obsession with Vass, who started dating Adams and rejected his advances. Enraged, Ban stabbed him twice in the heart then Adams 22 times. He showered with Vass’s naked corpse before posing him on the divan bed. Ban cut into the large mattress and climbed inside along with a water bottle and a cell phone. The bodies were found the next morning. While police investigated the crime, he remained undetected under Vass’s body for two days and even posted to his Facebook while hiding. He was eventually discovered by stunned police and charged. Ban was found guilty in August 2012 and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 26 years.

Stafford Gives More Details About Assaulting Dylann Roof

“I wouldn’t say it’s justice, but I felt as if I did the right thing,”

“When he first got there, everyone was cussing him out, saying what they were going to do to him,” Stafford said. “But I wasn’t even in the mindset of violence. I was more like damn, that could’ve been my people. No, they were my people. I just didn’t understand how he could do that… Pure evil.”

Still, Stafford said that he’d engage in small talk with Roof. He said he’d walk by his cell and they’d chat about politics and current events, sometimes girls.

“I’d say, ‘What’s up man,’ and he’d come to the cell door smiling like I’m his friend.” “But the whole time I’m looking at him like, you couldn’t find nothing else to do with your life? I didn’t know I was going to get him but it was more of a ‘you know what you did’ type thing.”

“The doors rattle when they lock them. My door didn’t rattle. He didn’t pull it hard enough. After I heard all the other doors rattle, I pushed on the door and went downstairs.”

Stafford said he uttered just four words before he started throwing punches: “Mind if I join?”

By the time jail guards responded Roof was badly bloodied, curled up in a fetal position.

“He tried, but, nah,” Stafford said with a chuckle. “I beat Dylann Roof’s ass.”
