'If you don't stop moving i'll end up making you look like a gestral!'
I got to paint a little scene with Gustave and Maelle for @imaakiraa I love reading about what their lives and relationships could have looked like before the events of the game, i love found family stories, their bond and bickering were really precious to me, i miss them greatly...
Thank you Akira for your trust on this, i'm so glad to have been able to paint such a sweet thing for you !
Painted an older version of her back in december and i wanted to try and paint her scars once again. It's not entirely accurate, but i do want to get better at drawing them. I always assumed she lost her eye during the fire but i was told she could've also had it removed afterwards, I like the idea of her having a glass eye and a pirate eyepatch. She'd look cool in one, despite it all.
Her character is so precious to me, i hope she still finds joy in the life she said she didn't want. She deserves to be happy and make her own choices, like Clea said.
Wip of an older Alicia, looking very distinguished just like her papa !
After spending some time painting the Dessendre children's portraits i've started to wonder what would Alicia look like once she grow older, I like the idea that her features became similar to Aline's, unlike Clea leaning more towards Renoir. Would her scars have healed a little more? by now I assume most of her body was affected, i wonder if it limits her movements at all, or if realistically, it should. One think i know for sure is that she has an impeccable sense of style!
I understand such severe burns don't just magically go away but I want to think that life improved for her somehow, that they found a way to ease her pain so that she can grow older and enjoy life again. I like the idea that since she couldn't braid her hair for so long she'd let it grow or tie it loosely, Aline or Clea could help her taking care of it, careful not to tug at her scalp too much.
Renoir would definitely inspire her wardrobe, I adore the fact that her style is already very specific, with a more 'masculine' side to it. He'd offer her one of his canes, to help with bad days. He'd help her get dressed when no one else is home.
I'd like her to find her confidence back, to realize that she no longer have to feel the guilt or the shame. I wondered about giving her a mask or an eyepatch, but i like to think she wouldn't want to hide anymore, even if it makes others uncomfortable.
Here's the last part of the Dessendre children portraits series. I adore Clea, she's such an interesting character. I love the idea of her features growing more into Renoir's. I initially wanted to keep a similar hairstyle for all of them, as it made sense for the idea i have of Clea to be dead set on one specific style, but i was also really curious about how she could've looked like with shorter hair. So let's say it's something she tried once and said 'never again' to!
The last portrait was highly inspired by shahs1221's amazing Clea sketch.
Here's the second set of portraits of the Dessendre children, Alicia is one of my favourite characters, it was a lot of fun to try and push her features a bit more. Still working on the Clea one but i hope i can finish it soon!
Got inspired by the beautiful work of hellothisisangle and i wanted to try and paint a younger Verso. I aim to get better at painting portraits and rendering skin so it was a fun challenge.
Ever since i finished the game I've wondered about Clea and the act of painting over someone's creation.
For her it's probably nothing, if you think about it from her point of view, she must've felt insulted, to see a painted copy of herself her grieving mother made out of desillusion, living a perfect life while she was struggling picking up the pieces of a broken family. her anger is understandable, if not justifiable. It's terrifying knowing someone can have that level of power.
For the painted people and us it's one of the most terrible thing a litteral god can do. To paint over someone's essence, to erase what make them human with a simple brushstroke. This duality is fascinating to me so i tried to recreate it.
I'm curious about what the family dynamics were like before the accident, i really want to see more of the siblings shenanigans and what it was like to grow up in a family of painters.
Decided to push their features a bit so it'd be more interesting to stylize, not sure if the ages and looks match but i wanted to try and see if i could age them backwards, it's really fun!
Her character is as fascinating as she's terrifying to me. I love how, even if we don't know much about her, we quickly understand how much of a threat she can be. I love the details about her younger self and the way she cares about her family, despite her cold demeanor and harsh comments.
To me, Clea, if she even had the time to grieve, is doing so through anger. I'm horrified at what she did to her painted self, and at the same time i can understand how insulted she must've felt. To see herself through the eyes of her grieving mother, living another life while she was left to pick up the pieces of a shattered family and the responsabilities that come with it.
a week ago i saw this on facebook and thought it was fucking hilarious and now i cant get it out of my head. ill be sitting on the bus or be alone in my room and just say “oh? you’re a chime?” out loud
