post therapy au
basically i keep seeing everyone want healthy flippy and flaky and i want it to, so i made this au
flippy, finally and fully tired of his mental illness hurting those he loves (specifically flaky as they get closer), makes the dangerous journey to leave happy tree town and seek help outside of their doomed little domain. while his issues are a little too deep and severe (and self defensive) to totally reverse and eliminate the alternate personality, he instead works to lessen the danger of the alt. so it becomes a typical “protector” alternate personality type, and not a nonstop killer.
when he returns home, flaky is inspired by the peace he’s seemed to embrace in himself, and takes the steps to work on herself as well. she’s too anxious to try to leave their town to get outside help, so instead she carefully chooses who she wants helping her in order to treat her extreme anxiety. she still struggles, but not nearly as much as before. she actually gets to a point where her anxiety is so manageable that she can actually calm herself and keep herself from spiraling into a fear induced panic before it even happens with coping mechanisms.
in this au, the mutual improvement between them allows them to approach a relationship on much healthier terms, and they slowly work towards a romance which quickly turns into an engagement, then marriage. they absolutely love one another, and flippy’s alt personality even deeply loves her as well, even if he can still be pretty mean at times he feels attacked.
