Before dealing with guys from GHANA google search “gay ghana scams” and “sakawa boys ghana.” Though not all but most of the GHANA posts are there for one reason only - YOUR $$$$
Guys, some advice before you find yourself in trouble…..
Especially in Ghana there is a large circle of “gay” scammers who are after your money and are very clever at manipulating sympathetic western gays. These guys portray themselves as gay/msm but most are certainly not. (In Africa the term MSM instead of GAY is preferred) Homosexuality in most of Africa is illegal (except South Africa where even gay marriage is legal).
Of course it does NOT mean that every single one of the guys online from these places is a conman, but the likelihood that the one you are chatting to is a scammer, is quite high!! Unfortunately, that makes it very difficult for the legitimate MSM’s amongst them, and there are some, who genuinely want to meet a gay man. Many are desperately poor and if you want to support someone financially then that is your choice….but then also accept it for what it is all about….money and not sexual relationship! In which case it’s worthwhile noting that the average income in Ghana is approx. US$60 per month. If you want to, check out a support group who are listed on Planet Romeo under Guide / gwarrantghana . (Note that I have no personal contact/knowledge/experience with this group)
Ghana has some nice resorts & very beautiful beaches, coastlines & countryside. However if you visit Ghana with the intention of meeting one of these scammers you run a HIGH risk of being conned, hassled, having your passport, money & phone stolen or even being SERIOUSLY MOLESTED - and that can happen even after several very friendly meetings which may or may not also have included sexual encounters! They are willing to play their dangerous game all the way until they have your confidence and the time is right to trap you. There have been numerous reported cases. Don’t expect the local police to have any sympathy for you at all; your ‘friend’ will now accuse you of ‘sexual exploitation’ and his previous sweet & charming talk will turn into vicious nastiness. These scammers operate in gangs and sit in the internet cafe’s together laughing at & mocking your replies to their messages. They are expert conmen and know the gay 'sex talk’ well with the ultimate goal of conning you out of your money with every sob story they can make up. Often they are 'orphans’ or their previous 'European lover’ abandoned them or they are persecuted as a gay in Ghana, or they want a relationship leading to marriage, or looking for a daddy, blah, blah, blah. Their list of scam ideas is endless and they particularly prey on older gay men. Whatever you do, NEVER give out your phone number as they will endlessly try to 'sweet talk’ you…..
SCAMMERS :: don’t bother sending messages with your nasty threats & spiritual curses - your messages are deleted unread!
