What if–for once–i was the poem, not the poet

what if–for once–I did not have to be, but I already was,

what if–for once–I was being compared to a summers day, or a rose that smelled so sweet,

what if–for once–I stoped caring about the words I wrote, but the words I spoke,

what if–for once–the stories I once created in my head, weren’t any different from the ones I read,

what if–for once–i realize that my poems are simply an extension of me, pulling out the good in my memories,

what if–for once–I saw myself in the same beauty as my prose, knowing I am what I compose,

what if–for once–I was the poem, because I was the poet
