if I just sent someone a tiktok link, i'm trying to block the tiktok account. The instructions said press the 3 dots, I pressed the only thing that resembled 3 dots and the next minute share is flashing up. And then i've shared somehow, instead of clicking back and I don't know where that link has gone.

I maybe a spritely 30something year old but I am SUCH an old lady when it comes to tiktok and insta.

We ate breakfast together in some sort of hotel dining room. It was basically a full English but served on a sharing platter, and she was picking at it disinterestedly and I was like.... do you not like this or something??? I can get you something else??

And she said no, the food was fine, she was just homesick. I said I was sorry to hear that and asked her what would help, and she looked at me and said, "Missing a better home".

I dreamt earlier that I joined a new dating site (that's how you know I was dreaming....) where the angle was you had to solve a puzzle together before you learnt each other's identity and could go on a date arranged through the site, like one of those point and click PC games, and if you didn't solve it by the end of an hour, the site assessed who was the cause of it and the "good" player could look for another person to go on a date with, and the "bad" player was suspended until they passed a test.

Ok this is it, I have to get something of my chest. Because of this goddamned Odyssey film I keep reading everywhere that Emily Wilson is the first woman to translate the Odyssey and because of this she has a unique take on the text.... NO NO NO THIS IS NOT TRUE she's the first ENGLISH woman to translate the Odyssey but women have been translating and publishing their translation since the 1700s !!!! In French and Italian and I'm sure other languages too!!

I'm so mad because students in Italy have been studying on Rosa Calzecchi Onesti's translation for decades!! Her translation is so well regarded it keeps being used in academia to this day and it's from the 60s!!! There have been dozens of other translations since then but we keep using that one !!!

(and also many other women published their translations both before and after her)

I was in Blackpool yesterday - that's a miracle in itself - and as I went the toilet in one place, I started hearing a live music act singing sections of I Want To Break Free and I Want It All from another.

As I was leaving I asked the staff about it. They said the hallway with the toilets share walls with the Blackpool Tower and the sound travels. It was the sound check for the live act!

Anyway, it made me want to stay there all day and night to hear the whole thing, but alas I did actually have to leave.
