Today was a very sad day. I went to see the elephants. I had been told I could ride them, to which I bluntly refused. I just wanted to go and say hello since I truly love these magnificent creatures. I could have cried, there they all were with heavy chains around their feet and round their neck. It was one of those moments when I felt so helpless because there was nothing I could do to help them. I started to walk towards one of them and at the same time telling him softly that I was so sorry that I couldn’t help him. He started to try and walk towards me and reach out to me with his trunk. In that instance the keeper immediately told me not to go any further. I stopped but I felt that this beautiful animal understood every word I said to him. “I doubt very much if he would have hurt me, because he knew I wouldn’t hurt him. When will man ever learn😢
