01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?
Well, uh…I dunno, I kinda just liked the way it sounded, to be honest…
02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?
She’s very, very insecure about how useful she is as a tactician. The fact that she’s not on the front lines (well, the fact that she’s not physically fighting with the others, at least) makes her often wonder exactly how useful she IS to the group.
03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?
She likes her hair. She thinks it looks pretty.
04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)
She likes Ace’s quiet side. The fact that he can kind of tell what people are thinking without them having to say anything. (She also thinks his eyes are pretty.)
05. Are they sexually confident or more of the shy type?
More of the shy type. Which is actually rather helpful, since it means she and Ace are both very careful about how they approach physical intimacy (Note: Ace is ace, and Robin is very touch-sensitive, so they have rules and boundaries about things).
06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?
Ace occasionally finds it irritating when he wants an apple and there were three in the fridge yesterday and now there aren’t any because Robin frikkin’ loves apples to death, but other than that, not really.
07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)?
It started as part of her tactician-speak when she’s in the Archon’s ops-room and on comms with the rest of the team.
It slowly leaked into her everyday vocabulary after a while as a way of saying “Hang on, I’m thinking…”
08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?
She THINKS its her shyness. It’s not. It’s actually her overthinking everything. Which is a tactical edge on the battlefield, but often a blunted one when it comes to the political games the triaxial have to play.
09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?
Favors winter, because that means hot chocolate and books.
10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?
Feminine. She’s probably the most feminine of the ladies in Space Punks.
11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
Hurting innocents makes her your enemy. Trying to hurt one of her friends makes her your worst nightmare.
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?
She’s hyper-logical. She can think fast enough and well enough that she can see things most others can’t.
13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?
Robin is a VERY heavy sleeper. (Ace finds this endearing.)
14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommates?
Robin lives aboard the Archon, with the rest of the Triaxial. They’re all good friends, and for the most part form their own sort of found family.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.
Axton. Specifically, Joshua Axton. She knew him, way back when. The fact that he’s become the person that made the Axton Corporation both saddens and angers her. A lot.
16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?
I wouldn’t say she’s a couch potato, but she’s definitely not an athlete. She’s a bookworm, basically.
17. Does your character have dreams of getting married and/or having children?
She’s not sure about the kids thing, but she does want a future together with Ace.
18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?
Honestly, they’re more than okay with just living on the Archon. It was basically retrofitted to be a luxury vessel anyway until Robin had Artemis and Ace respec it for stealth and combat, so it wouldn’t be hard for them to live on it together anyway. They kinda already do.
19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?
Oh gods no. Robin’s not a fighter.
20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?
She does like animals. She’s still trying to convince Ace to let her get a cat. Ace is not sure the Archon is a good home for a cat with Claire on board.
21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?
her biggest fear is that she’ll be the reason her friends end up dying, due to some tactical misstep on her part.
22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?
She has a small dove tattoo just below the back of her neck, and golden irises (a recent, but rare, mutation among spacefaring humans from the Tau Ceti system)
23. What is your character like when it comes to school? What subjects are they good/bad at? Do they get in trouble a lot or are well behaved?
Robin is good at just about everything. She’s a bookworm, if you give her information, she’ll devour it just because it’s new and fascinating.
Except for aesthetics. she finds a lot of the “academics” of that field to be verbose, boring bullshit about which pretentious bastard gets to lay claim to what counts as “art.”
24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like?
“He’s the strong, silent type, but…strong in mind. Well, and body, too, because he’s a soldier, but…he’s a thoughtful person, is the important part.”
25. Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?
Robin was present at the Tessephon Massacre. She’s lucky she survived. It still haunts her to this day. She’s had nightmares about it fairly regularly. It’s also what drove her to help create the Triaxial and fight the other factions in the Outer Rim.
26. What is their lover like sexually? How do they feel about their lover’s quirks, needs, etc?
Well, Ace is…well, ace. And Robin’s actually okay with this, given how touch-sensitive she is. Ace gets that, and she appreciates that he gets that. It’s actually a very non-sexual relationship between them, which they’re both completely okay with.
27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it?
Uh, probably being a seditionist. Since that’s kinda what she is, since she’s the tactician to the one group that’s actually causing hell for the warring factions.
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for?
Being a war hero of sorts, probably. That or actually managing to help fix most of the damage done in the war.
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?
She used the Archon’s tractor beam and some physics tricks to drop a moon into an otherwise-uninhabited planet to obliterate a small space station targeting Ace’s shuttle after an op.
Granted, she was PISSED, because Ace and Artemis went there to negotiate with the people and see if they could resolve things peacefully. They thought they had, they were leaving, the Collective tried to shoot them in the back. Cue Moon Drop.
The planet did not survive impact. Fortunately, the space station was manned by only about 50 people and most of them got off-planet in time to survive. Except for the asshole who still tried to shoot Ace’s shuttle down. He died.
30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?
Books and music. In fact, she and Ace swap new music they find all the time.
31. Would your character be the kind capable of killing? Would they enjoy killing or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what?
Well, she has, theoretically, but in reality, no. If anyone DOES die by her hands, then it’s because they were stupid or stubborn enough to sit there and die instead of saving themselves.
32. If your character’s lover offered to take them out on a dream date, what would they want to do?
Probably visit either Tau Ceti (her homeworld from waaaay back when) or head to the Arcturus Archives (it’s literally the biggest collection of knowledge in the galaxy)
33. If your character wanted to be alone, where would they go?
Her room aboard the Archon. The only person who might bother her there is Ace, and even then, he’d know when she wants to be left alone and would give her space.
34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc)
Apples. Robin LOOOOVES apples. They’re, like, her favorite thing ever.
35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?
She doesn’t want to die. She’s seen lots of gruesome, bloody death in her days and she would not want to go out like that at all.
36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?
Not really. Like I said, she has a hyperanalytical mind, but that’s not a medical condition, that’s just how she thinks.
37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?
People mistreating books. She’s scolded Claire about this more often than not.
38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?
Robin really likes rainy days because of the sound the rain makes.
39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?
Bookish, probably. They’d be correct.
40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?
Nu disco. Only Ace knows about it, and that’s because he introduced her to it.41. Does your character’s family affect your character in any way?
She doesn’t really have a family. Not anymore. They were all killed in the Tessephon Massacre. So the Triaxial are her family now.
42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?
Again, the Tessephon Massacre is something Robin LIVED through. It still haunts her, even a decade and a half later.
43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?
She becomes much more relaxed and calm when she’s around Ace, since Ace helps ground her. (Conversely, Ace becomes more lively when he’s around Robin.)
44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character?
Anyone in the Triaxial dying.
45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve?
Robin is a very emotional person. It’s not too hard to see how she feels if you know how to look. She just gives off different signals sometimes.
46. What is some random affectionate thing that your character always does to their lover?
Spontaneous hugs, usually.
47. Is your character outgoing? Would they be the leader of the friend group, or the quiet one that gets dragged along?
Robin has to get dragged along a lot of the time, to keep her nose out of some book somewhere for once in the week.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?
She doesn’t get too envious of anything. Occasionally she gets jealous of Claire’s ability to just not care about anything, but otherwise she’s not actively jealous about anything so much as she’s a bit of a worry-wort.
49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your character’s mood?
50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?
Well, Robin’s very shy. So shy, in fact, that she got flustered enough that when Ace finally came out and confessed she kinda…locked herself in her room after stumbling over her words (she was very embarrassed). Ace took that as a “Ew, no, get away from me you creep, I don’t like you that way” and retreated to his room to go angst. The angsting session was interrupted by a note that Robin slid under the door saying “Sorry for freaking out. I like you too, I just wasn’t able to get the words out of my mouth. Please don’t be mad?”
Ace found this far too endearing to actually be sad or mad or vaguely upset about the situation at all.
And that’s basically how they got together.
(Jesus this is taking forever…)
01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?
I needed something that fit the surname “Jackson” and Claire seemed like a good fit for some reason.
02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?
Claire’s pretty insecure about her status as a Runner. It makes her feel pretty different around other people. She’s fairly good at playing it off, though, and the support from Ace, Robin, and Artemis over the years have made sure that it’s not a weakness people can actively exploit.
03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?
The leyline markings on her skin. They can glow in the dark. In her mind, it’s the best perk of being a Runner, are the awesome TRON-esque tattoos that actually do light up when she wants them to.
04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)
She likes how collected Artemis is about everything. She also thinks Artemis’s arms are easily her best feature, since they’re really well-toned from all the archery.
05. Are they sexually confident or more of the shy type?
Claire plays it off like she’s super confident but in reality she’s really shy when it comes to intimacy.
06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?
Artemis occasionally gets annoyed at her need to sit on literally everything but actual chairs half the time, but this is only when Artemis is working on something and Claire is in the way. Claire usually gets the message pretty quickly and either stops lounging on things, or goes to bother Ace instead until Artemis is done with whatever important work she’s working on.
07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)?
Unlike what you might think, she says this in a hilariously calm manner (ESPECIALLY for her) after pulling some incredibly hard and complex string of parkour moves (she’s a freerunner as well as being an actual Runner).
08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?
Loves to show off. Her hubris has been her downfall more than once. She takes the big things seriously enough, though, so nothing too bad has happened. (Yet.)
09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?
Loves springtime. That’s when the night-life is busiest on most planets, which means she can light herself up and it looks so much cooler when she goes clubbing every so often.
10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?
I guess you could say Claire’s a bit of a tomboy in some senses.
11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
hurting innocent people. Generally being an asshole.
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?
She’s a Runner. She was literally born with nanotech of some kind integrated into her system on the cellular level. This means she’s a naturally predisposed techie and also in many ways a predisposed athlete, given that runners in their early days are basically compelled by the nanotech to run along the planetary leylines.
13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?
Claire is an absurdly heavy sleeper who steals all the blankets. She hasn’t kicked Artemis out of the bed yet, but she HAS accidentally elbowed her in the gut once. Artemis never really let her live it down.
14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommates?
She’s got an arrangement with Artemis on the Archon. They each have their own living quarters, but they share a bedroom. Ace and Robin are on the other side of the common space on the residential deck of the Archon.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.
Claire has issues with her mother. A lot of issues. The fact that her father claims that her mother was still a good person at heart only makes things worse, because she thinks he’s blind to her flaws.
16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?
Claire is an athlete, no doubt about that. She runs CONSTANTLY. Half of the time to show off. But yeah, she’s pretty athletic.
17. Does your character have dreams of getting married and/or having children?
She hasn’t thought that far ahead. For now she’s just happy that someone agreed to give a relationship with her a go, since most people tend to shy away from relationships with Runners for a number of reasons. (Artemis thinks all those reasons are bullshit.)
18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?
Claire actually really likes living on the Archon. If she and Artemis had to go their own way separate from Ace and Robin, they’d probably try to get a similar ship for their home. But they are more than content with living on the Archon right now.
19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?
Oh gods yes. Claire would pick fights with anyone she feels needs an ass-kicking. And most of the time she’s won. The only people she’s lost fights to are Ace (mostly because Ace is a trained combat professional, and she wasn’t trained at the time) and Artemis (who caught her off guard by using her bow as a weapon alongside combat-archery), and these were both fights that literally took place the night before the Triaxial was founded.
20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?
Claire thinks cheetahs are cool because they go fast. Same with falcons.
21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?
Claire fears isolation. She still struggles with it, but being in the Triaxial and having Artemis at her side has helped a lot.
22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?
Claire is a very physically distinct individual. She’s got TRON-like markings over most of her body, including two lightning-bolt-like markings on her cheeks that run down the side of her head, down her neck, and out to her arms. You can actually see the tech in her eyes if you look closely enough.
She’s also got a punk-rock haircut. Short, shaved down close along the sides of her head.
23. What is your character like when it comes to school? What subjects are they good/bad at? Do they get in trouble a lot or are well behaved?
Claire’s not a book-smart person, given that she grew up on the streets of New Dublin and didn’t really end up with an education. That said, she’s still quite clever, and she has very good spatial reasoning. She’s really, really good at improvising when the situation calls for it.
24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like?
“Absurdly calm. About everything. I have no idea how she’s so chill all the time. It’d be kinda scary if it weren’t what makes her attractive.”
25. Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?
Claire’s mother was at Tessephon the day the massacre happened. She ended the massacre by rushing the garrison with two grenades in hand, which killed her and about 30 of the Collective’s troops, forcing them to withdraw. Claire saw the vids later, and is still angry that her mother would throw away her life like that and leave her and her father to fend for themselves after she already left for another system to try and work for more money.26. What is their lover like sexually? How do they feel about their lover’s quirks, needs, etc?
Claire is very easily flustered. Artemis helps counteract this by being very patient and calm about things. This has lead to their relationship being somewhat spontaneous on Claire’s end, but rather laid back on Artemis’s end, which both are okay with.
27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it?
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for?
She would probably be a war hero alongside Ace and Artemis and possibly Robin.
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?
She tackled a guy off a train when he tried to shoot at Artemis.
She lived. The guy did too, but he, uh…kinda ended up with a broken leg and a spinal injury…
30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?
Claire loves action films and drum and bass (as well as the occasional punk rock track).
31. Would your character be the kind capable of killing? Would they enjoy killing or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what?
She’s capable of it, but doesn’t like it. Let’s just say that she was not complaining when Ace implemented the No Casualties If Possible rule.
32. If your character’s lover offered to take them out on a dream date, what would they want to do?
Go see a movie, then eat someplace fancy.
“Hey, that’s romantic, right?”
33. If your character wanted to be alone, where would they go?
The armory. She’s even got a punching bag set up down there for when she gets REALLY pissed. But it has some nice views for when she’s feeling down.
34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc)
Claire loves anything and everything chocolate.
35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?
Claire is indifferent towards the thought of dying, but feels like if she did die, she’d leave a lot of work unfinished, and she won’t abide that.36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?
Being a Runner is a medical condition in its own right, I guess. She’s got self-replicating nanotech integrated into her system at the cellular level. This gives her enhanced abilities, accelerated healing, and the ability to interface with technology. That said, the integration into the leylines and some area-tech might get overwhelming at times, and if certain things go really wrong, she can end up with pretty sever migraines (but these are exceptionally rare).
37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?
People beating around the bush or dancing around a point annoys her. She also gets somewhat annoyed by people denser than her.
38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?
She really likes cooler weather, but clear weather. Good running weather.
39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?
She’s a punk. They’re half right. Maybe three-quarters right.
40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?
She loves cheesey romance films. She thinks Artemis doesn’t know. She does.
41. Does your character’s family affect your character in any way?
Claire’s mother’s death makes Claire see self-sacrifice as a waste of life. She would now much rather shoot the gunman than jump in front of the person he’s trying to shoot.
42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?
She still wishes she could have convinced her mother to stay with her and her father in New Dublin instead of heading to Tessephon.
43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?
Claire becomes much more…open…when she’s around Artemis. A significant portion of the cockiness and bravado goes away, and more of her sensitive side shows itself.
44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character?
Artemis’s death, in particular, but anyone in the Triaxial dying would be devastating.
45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve?
Claire doesn’t try to hide too much, but she does play up the cocky attitude quite a bit most of the time.
46. What is some random affectionate thing that your character always does to their lover?
She’ll smooch Artemis on the cheek every so often just because.
47. Is your character outgoing? Would they be the leader of the friend group, or the quiet one that gets dragged along?
Claire is easily the outgoing one of the group. Very energetic. Wouldn’t be the leader of the group, though. She’d be, like…the hype-guy. That’d be her role.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?
She’s still bitter that Ace can throw knives better than she can.
She expects it from Artemis, but she’s still so bitter that Ace is just that much better with knives than she is.
49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your character’s mood?
The Tessephon Massacre feeds. It gets pretty bad sometimes. She tries to brush it off, but Artemis knows better than to just ignore it and tries to help her calm down afterwards.
50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?
“So uh…yeah, you’re…really attractive, and I like you a lot. Uh…wanna…like…go get lunch together or something?”
To which Artemis responds with a very amused “That sounds lovely.”
