Name: Olivia Dixon. Gender: Female. General appearance: The easiest way to describe Olivia is basically a miniature version of Melissa (down to the way the hair curls, the size of their fingers and body shape) but with Daryl's genes shining through in terms of both hair and eye color. Honestly, out of all their kids, Olivia is the one that is so evidently a product of their relationship that would be ridiculous to claim otherwise even if they no longer have the technology to run DNA tests. Personality: Outgoing, lively and excitable, Olivia doesn't appear to be aware of the harsh conditions she's growing up in - but that's largely because she just doesn't know better. While she cannot miss the world she never knew, there is also some of her environment to be credited for the way Olivia is hard-working and optimistic - protected by their community and watching her parents doing so much for others (either as provider to the group or taking care of them), Olivia didn't find it challenging to be a nice or good person - it's just who she is. Having in Judith an inseparable companion and sister-like figure also shaped much of her in terms of personality. Special talents: A survivalist by excellence, just like Daryl - honestly, she is her dad's girl and loves the outdoors, animals, learning about the world and feeling at peace while sleeping under the stars. Daryl was always very focused on teaching Olivia (and then the other kids) about the basics they needed to know to just survive out there, should the worst come to pass. Olivia can track animals (and people), set traps, kill, skin and cook game, climb uneven paths, build decent shelters and determine edible plants with quite a lot of skill. Who they like better: Daryl, by a mile - and it's obvious. It's not like she doesn't like Melissa or as if they didn't get along well because they do - it's just that she's so similar to Daryl in so many ways that they connect on a deeper level. They can understand each other without words, go for hours on hunting trips and enjoy it, volunteer for the job no one wants to take it without making a fuss (including killing walkers) and so on. Olivia is very social and loves her siblings and community dearly, but her dad's just special. Who they take after more: Also Daryl, for the same reasons above - although her cheerful personality and charisma is where Olivia sets herself apart. Those are generally regarded as her 'Melissa' traits seeing as how the girl will strike up conversation with anyone and is also not shy of voicing her own thoughts and opinions. Similarly to her mother, she is also protective (and proud!) of Daryl and doesn't take kindly to people badmouthing him. Personal Headcanon: It started as a bit of a joke when she was little, but Olivia loves scavenging olive / olive oil cans and bottles whenever these are still around in abandoned homes or facilities they find along the way. When the girl was younger, the thought that these were her 'property' because they had her name on the labels was such a cute notion that neither of her parents had the heart to crush it with reality - and it just evolved into a funny, harmless hobby. But if Jade wants into the forest, who is Daryl to stop him? Victor didn't seem to have anything to say about it, and considering Victor knows these forests best, Daryl suspects it'd be fine so long as the sun remains in the sky.

the short-haired woman couldn't help but chuckle softly at his words despite how flat his joke had fallen --- it clearly amused her how he tried to joke, only for it to always fall flat, but she was grateful for his dry humor. it did amuse her quite a bit. she grasped his hand and tugged him up, though she didn't release his hand because his hand felt nice. it was warm and very comforting to her. ❝ come on, pookie. let's go get something to eat. ❞ she mused and took the lead.

"You gotta stop calling me that," Daryl laments, but as he falls into step behind Carol, it's clear he doesn't really mind. Her hand is warm in his-- safe, even-- and if nothing else he's just glad they're together instead of apart. When Carol had left the prison all those months ago, Daryl wasn't sure how to take it, but he supposes she must have felt the same way when he decided to leave with Merle the year before.

Best not to think about Merle, maybe.

"You cook this time?" He makes a face. "I like your stuff more'n whatever these Alexandria mums cook up."

THE WALKING DEAD 30 Days Without an Accident

Daryl’s reaction to her compliment is borderline cute, but she doesn’t push him on it. Just smirks to herself as she manages to slip one should strap of her backpack off as she listens to him.

Nodding with a hum, she turns on her heel. “Not a problem, we can do the laundry after you shower. Have it going while we’re eating or something.” She remarks, before disappearing upstairs.

She makes a mental note to avoid the master bedroom, and instead sets her backpack in one of the spare rooms for the time being. Within a matter of minutes she’s changed out of her clothes and in the shower, seemingly having forgotten just how good it actually felt. Sure it has only been a few days, but with everything that has gone down it could’ve been a month for all she knew.

The timer on her watch buzzes, letting her know to get out before she potentially uses all of the hot water. She doesn’t want to risk leaving Daryl with only cold water, after him looking out for her. So she quickly towel dries herself off and gets dressed in the clothes Daryl had managed to find for her, before she makes her way downstairs with a grin. Dirty clothes in a discarded hamper she found, she sets it into a nearby chair. “Shower’s all yours, and the clothes work perfectly by the way.”

At his question, Thalia walks over to the kitchen table, glancing over everything. Her gaze makes it way back to her companion. “I’m thinking pasta, that’s always been one of my favorites actually.” She reached to grab the required ingredients before laughing. “I mean, it is nice to have some variety. Not that I’m complaining, you’re a good cook, Dixon.”

“Want me to start on dinner while you shower? Or wait until you’re out?”

"A good..." Jesus, it doesn't matter how often Thalia's nice to him-- Daryl never knows what to say, not when she's so genuine about it. The compliment to his cooking makes the back of his neck prickle with heat, so it's probably no surprise he scowls about it.

"Whatever." He waves a hand dismissively, already walking away from Thalia to keep from disrupting her work. "Let's hear you say that when we're out in the fucking wild again 'stead of Martha Stewart's miracle kitchen."

(Warmth settles in his stomach, nice and easy, at the thought of Thalia enjoying his food. Daryl works hard foraging what herbs and plants they come across to make his game taste as good as it can get out there, and it's nice to be appreciated. God knows his family never noticed.)

"You can make whatever you want-- the earlier we eat, the more time we get for sleepin'." Daryl's fingers brush the doorway to the kitchen, and he turns briefly over his shoulder to glance at Thalia moving about. Though he hesitates for a moment, in the end he manages: "Thanks for taking over, though, Thal."

Then he's scurrying away to get himself clean-- dirt out of his hair, dirt off his face, and dirt away from every inch of skin he leaves exposed to the heat and humidity of the world outside. It feels damn good to have soap and shampoo again. Hell, these people are well off enough that Daryl even works conditioner in his hair.

"Listen man, the dead are walking. Anything is possible."

Though she really hadn't ever seen Daryl even showing interest in another person in that way, Kyleigh knew that didn't mean he couldn't have before the world went to shit. All the way back when they had first met she thought he was decent looking and he did have some redeeming qualities. If someone was patient enough to dig down through the layers of bullshit he built up to find such things.

All thoughts of Daryl dating or any real thoughts at all began to slip from Kyleigh's brain as Daryl started to get into running his fingers through her hair, her shoulders slumping as she leaned even further back against the chair. He was right, this shit was relaxing as hell! Listening to his voice was nice too, especially since he wasn't screaming insults at her or making a joke about her having fleas.

Still his words about his mother broke a part of her heart, already knowing what dick holes his father and brother had been to him. She was lucky in the fact that she grew up in a loving home no matter how much she rebelled against it. Aunt Joan was the best second mother she could have ever asked for, and if it wasn't for Uncle Tony she wouldn't know any of the things she knew today.

As she began to truly allow herself to relax with Daryl a low, almost growl-like sound started coming from her chest. Kind of like how a cat would purr when being pet by their favorite person but a bit deeper. In fact she didn't even notice she was doing it but she did hear Dixon's questions to her.

"My Mom was, Dad was human. Their relationship wasn't supposed to happen and neither was I, so they sent vampires to kill them. Must have forgotten about me though. My aunt and uncle raised me after that. I don't remember much about my actual parents, which I guess is a good thing. And no, no one's ever touched me in my lycan form and lived to talk about it. No one deserves to see that ugly beast."

There're very few things in the world these days that can calm Daryl down with certainty. With all the worries that plague their community, he spends more time concerned over everyone's well-being than he does seeking some half-baked measures of relaxation. Kyleigh makes this noise in her chest, though, and it's... nice. Daryl isn't sure what this says about him-- that Kyleigh's enjoyment is better for him than when he was receiving attention-- but shuts up about it all the same. He'd have nothing to say if she asked him why he cared, and it becomes more important all too quickly to listen to Kyleigh speak instead.

If she had told him this way back when they first met, he would have laughed at the idea of "vampires". Might have even joked that, hey, she's gotta be pals with Frankenstein's monster or some shit at this rate, because she sounds fucking insane.

But with the years that've passed-- years he's spent hunting and surviving with Kyleigh at his side-- he understands that this is her truth. As she purrs beneath his touch, and as Daryl's fingers comb through her hair enough to turn each strand smooth like water, his brows furrow as he contemplates the significance of being given these pieces of her past. That, and Kyleigh's apparent frustration with her lycan form.

"S'good you had your aunt and uncle." The thought of a little Kyleigh lost and alone with both parents dead twists his stomach. No kid deserved that. "...never thought you'd call bein' wolfy ugly, though." Honestly, Daryl thought Kyleigh was above any concerns with appearance, but apparently even she wasn't free of insecurity.

"I kinda thought it was cool." A beat. "Y'know, 'cept for the almost killing me part." The smile on his face hopefully makes it clear he's joking. Daryl forgave Kyleigh for that years ago.

Still, he clears his throat, answering: "Lots of stuff.

"I've been journalling since I was a kid," he admits, voice soft in this rare moment of vulnerability. "I mean, I'm no good at writing or nothin', but... I always wrote what I wanted to remember down. And then I'd draw things I thought were real pretty, like Mars up there.

"The other day..." Daryl flips through his notebook, pages fluttering as his thumb cards expertly through them. He stops on a page with a folded corner, flattens it out, and then grabs a small flashlight from the pocket of his jacket. "While I was out in the mountains, this deer I've been trackin' for a couple weeks finally gave birth."

He clicks the flashlight on, shining the light over a rough sketch of a mother curled by twin fawns. It's hardly perfect, but Daryl had drawn the details of each spot, and had even coloured in the bloodied parts of fur. In the upper corner of the page, he'd written the date and some notes: Deer birth, twins. Found in west clearing. Probably today.

"Oh." Daryl blinks, suddenly realising: "Sorry if it's too, uh... graphic."

Eddie was no stranger to trouble in the trailer park, and unfortunately, he wasn't a stranger to having guns pressed to his head either. The kind of life he'd led for a 19 year old had been a pretty dark one. He had been ready to reach for his uncle's rifle, if he had to. Since the new residents had moved in down the block, there had been more drug activity in Forest Hills, and it wasn't the minor kind that usually came to Eddie's door. Not the kind of teens looking to score some party drugs. These people were hardcore, and reminded him of his time working with Rick Lipton.

Eddie watched to make sure that the vehicle was gone before he lumbered down the stairs and held his hand out for Daryl to help him up.

"Bad news to be walking alone in Hawkins at this time of night. Sure as shit not just for guys like that," Eddie said gravely. There were several disappearances over the last couple of years, and seeing as they were near the treeline? Eddie definitely didn't want this guy out wandering on his own.

"You live close by? Or at least parked close by, man? I'll walk you where you need to go."

Daryl hesitates at the offered hand-- less because the other boy looks particularly suspicious, and more because the cool press of a gun had shaken him. His shoulders rise and fall, but the more the boy speaks, the more the frantic look in Daryl's eyes subside. A voice sounding suspiciously like his brother harps on him, though, telling him to man the fuck up and get off the ground, and with a hard swallow he finally reaches out to take what's offered.

Thankfully, his legs don't give out from under him as he pulls himself up. That would have been the final nail in an already humiliating coffin.

As rational as the fear of death is, that doesn't make Daryl feel any less frustrated. Why was it that murder scared him so much more than dying up in the mountains?

"I don't..." The sound of his own voice, tentative despite his best efforts, has Daryl cringing inwardly. He lets go of the other boy's hand to shove both of his own into his pockets, pretending they hadn't been shaking. "I don't live nearby, no."

He's started mumbling, he realises. Daryl clears his throat, lifting his head enough to peer at the other boy through his bangs. "I was walkin' home from work, and those guys..."

Would it be bad if he said they were looking for his brother?

"I'm-- I'm gonna be fine, just... what the fuck is goin' on around here?" That was the first time anyone ever pointed a gun at him. Daryl barely suppresses a shudder. "That's normal?"

"Ah... Did I strike a nerve?" Daemon's lip curled into a faint smile, his eyes looking over the man's form.

It was obvious the man before him didn't know who he was, although he couldn't tell if it was the hood granting him that peace. A tilt of his head as he studied the rugged man and it was then, that he knew that even without the hood, he wouldn't know (or care) who Daemon Targaryen was.

Interesting...

"And if I did have work for you?"

He didn't but he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to meet this interesting specimen.
