Howdy howdy! Been a while, but the blue moon is back and I have stuff to show, albeit not pixel art for once.
I started drawing these funky creatures again just recently after a half-year break. I figured I wanted to show them, and so here they are! Say hey to what I'm calling Entropy Creatures:

These guys live in an expansive forest of gigantic, looming trees that are very closely knit together. This forest appeared on Earth one day via an odd rift. They stay inside, hunting the various similarly huge wildlife, gardening, and scaring off the curious humans that wish to explore. They start off with full limbs and a healthier look, but they begin to deteriorate and mutate over time- some even end up looking unrecognizable, growing roots or antlers or becoming reliant on one leg. Their lives end once their limbs are completely lost. This could take days, weeks, years, up to entire eons.
They have no faces unless their faces are perceived, in which case whatever part of their face that is seen is real.
(another early on draft, with a human taking care of one's hair in a mutual relationship. In this instance, the Entropy Creature's eye is perceived and is therefore real.)
Entropy Creatures have a subset as well, who I'm calling "Hunters". They are far more aggressive, living up in the trees until it's time to drop on potential prey. They wind between the trees with hyper-flexibility. They suffer from a similar deterioration as Entropy Creatures.

I don't have much more lore on these guys. The skulls they wear aren't their own, but all Hunters have one. They aren't afraid to hunt humans, but they're generally too small to feed a Hunter.
Last but not least, a prey animal- The Bout. A giant hybrid of a bat, pig, and horse. They start their lives with a snout similar to a horse's, but once old enough will slam it sideways into a tree until it breaks off. They dig for nutrients of underground organisms, or fruits and plants at eye-level. They mostly eat humans by accident.
(both of these are older, but I'm not that much better at animals now. Blood and gore not included.)
How do ppl pixel art? I donāt get it. Itās cool and all but how does art translate into pixels like that? Sorry if that is a weird question as all and you can ignore it if you want Iām just asking a bunch of pixel art blogs their take on pixel art and how they do it. Itās interesting and I donāt mean it in a bad wayā¦ thanks Iād you do reply, no pressue.

To answer your question,Ā I tend to just draw it freehand first without any regard to proper shape, then go back and refine it all, and then color and shade it. Highlights arenāt my thing but I like to think Iām slowly improving on that front.
Something I need to say..is art doesnāt ātranslate" into pixels. When I draw pixel art, Iām not translating anything but how I see it, which may look like or actually be real life on occasion. Not to mention pixel art isnāt the only kind that draws in pixels. Digital art for the most part deals with pixels, but on a larger scale with some anti-aliasing. In fact I know of a few people that draw pixel art using other drawing programs, and people who suggest using other drawing programs to draw pixel art. No need to buy a fancy program, but it helps. :>
With that in mind I havenāt entirely abandoned drawing in other mediums. I doodle in an art program every once in a while and I feel Iām improving there as well. And hey, improvement there also helps in pixel art.
TL;DR: I have the same advice every other artist gives because itās important. Practice. Find your style, your process, and your medium. Have fun with it, and have a great half blue moon :>
Your art is great and all the monster characters look super grunge. Would it kill to ask what you make it on? I know of a few pixel art programs but also know people use clip studio or paint too

Every art that was posted here was made using Piskel, but seeing as that one is dying out I switched over to Aseprite. I like it a lot so far and Iām probably going to post my first art using Aseprite sooner or later sometime next blue moon whenever that may be. :>
