Hello everyone, itâs been a long time since weâve talked about The Whit-Noise Podcast hasnât it? Well thatâs mostly been my fault and I wanted to start by apologizing for that. Iâve been going through a lot and I have let that a lot control me for far too long. Now I said that once before but that just goes to show how much I let it control me. However this time it is diferent and I am doing myâŚ
imagine writing your book, and it becomes someoneâs favorite book.
imagine what it must be like knowing that this thing you spent hours of your life creating has brought so much joy to someone that they title it their favorite.
This bears repeating because I continue to forget about it.
Your first draft doesnât have to be good.
Itâs allowed to just be bad. Itâs allowed to just be the intermediate step of getting the words from your brain into the world in some tangible way that you can build from. Itâs allowed to have notes that say âfix thisâ or âidk man come up with somethingâ or âneeds transitionâ or âput in better orderâ.
Your first draft is allowed to be a first draft.
I spend too much time thinking my first attempt at anything needs to be perfect when that is completely not the case and the entire thing holding me back.
I need to go easier on myself, on my writing. I need to get over it not being perfect the first time and just be happy that itâs out there in the first place.
Iâm writing, that should be what matters. Not how good quality it is or how little needs to be fixed later on. Thatâs a problem for future me. Present me just needs to worry about getting the words down.
