Day 43: Six years ago today I had the most incredible night of my life. I met Emma. I met my wife. Our short coffee shop date turned into a 9 hour date. At exactly this time we were probably at the crepe place in Davis Square in Somerville, if it’s still there. I met my person. Six years ago today.

Six weeks ago today, she killed herself. Now everything we had is gone, and worse, so is she. I can't handle this, I can't live like this, she's gone and she can't come back and I'm so lost. I can’t find anything in anything anymore. I met my wife six years ago today and now she's dead and she chose this for us and I'll never know why. She doesn't have to live through any of this and I’m so envious of her for that. It's too much, it’s too much, it’s too much and there’s no way out of it.

I love you, Emma. I’m so tired.

@mx-minus it’s pretty complex but I maybe remember most of it. She’s could have explained it much better. The scanner is on its back, pointing at the ceiling. There’s foil roughly around the edges and the surface is covered in… I want to say windex, windex, and/or oil? And then a layer of cling film. On top is this is the sculpture, which she also made (she was so talented like that):

The cracks and fractures and glitches come from moving the piece around as the scanner is slowly moving across the bed. The color is then adjusted and I think the luminosity curve might be inverted on most of her pieces.

The background is probably the very out of focus ceiling, changed a bit via the color adjustments. The only thing I don’t know is if any temporary modifications were done to the sculpture itself.

I’ve never, ever seen anyone else make photographic art like this. My Emma was truly exceptional. But please, make more art like this, she would be so honored if this method propagated out into the world.

My wife @furydyke, my beautiful, loving, and incredible wife, my person and my home, took her own life yesterday. We would have been married 4 years in August.
