First meeting with Dong Ho ya.
I was walking down the street, thinking of what type of coffe I'll be getting today. It's been a very stressful week and I haven't been sleeping well.
My had my head down, trudging along debating the merits of getting an iced americano on the rocks or just get an espresso, whilst trying to dodge other zombies like me. Ugh, I really hate mornings!
I step in my favorite coffee shop, take a deep breath, enjoying the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the sound of the coffee grinder is music to my ears. The fog from my brain slowly lifts and I am finally starting to feel alive.
I finally get to the counter,
"One hot, grande, hazelnut Americano, please".
The barista smiled and asked for my name, like I haven't been coming here everyday for the last 3 months. I looked up and stared into an unfamiliar face.
"Oh, you're new!" I blurt out, I blush mortified by my outburst. "I'm sorry, I'm still half asleep" - I stammered.
The new guy smiled and said,
"It's okay, can I have your name for the cup?"
"Mia, it's Mia" I finally managed to say. I was temporary speechless from embarassment.
"It's okay, looks like you're having a bad day" he said, "Why don't I upgrade your drink, on the house." He smiled at me. I just stood there and nodded.
His smile! Oh my gods! I think my brain short circuited. He has the cutest smile I've ever seen,his whole face lit up and it made me feel like I'm the only person in the world. Cheesy, I know. How can a grown woman be speechless because of a smile. It's 6 o'clock in the fucking morning, maybe that's why. I must be dreaming.
Somebody called my name and I went to the counter to get my coffee, the cute guy wasn't there.
"See, Mia, you were just seeing things! Andrew's the barista today. *Singh* I really should get more sleep"
"Do you always talk to yourself in the morning?" A rich voice said beuind me. I jumped an almost spilled my coffee.
"What the fuck is wrong with you!? You almost gave me a heart attack, and I almost spilled my coffee! " angry I turned and I see him again.
Wait, am I seeing things?
He smiled again, "No you're not."
Shit did I say that outloud!?
He started laughing, I looked up at him, I had t, he's taller than I am and I had to crane my neck to look at his face.
"I'm sorry. Didn't mean to over hear your "conversation". It's just my shift had ended and I was wondering if I may join you for coffee?"
"What? I mean, why? I don't even know you."
"Oh that, hi Mia, I'm Baekho. I'm new here and don't know anyone yet. You take your coffee the same way I do, so I thought." He shrugged.
"Thought what!?" I asked.
"That maybe we share the same tastes in other things and I'd like to get tp know you better". He flashed another impish grin.
I saw that he was also holding a cup of steaming coffee. I thought, what the heck. As long as he's real and not a figment of my imagination, I might as well talk to him.
"Okay, let's go sit down then." I go to my usual spot. It's my favorite seat here. 2 grey, wingback chairs by the corner. To one side is the plate glass window where I people watch while sipping my coffee and behind one of the chairs is the red brick wall that I love so much.
I sat down, back against the wall. He sits in frobt of me and i finally get a chance to study his face.
He has a straight nose, he's eyes are a peculiar shade of brown, it looks golden in certain lights. His brows are thick, it ĺooks almost like catepillars are perched above his eyes, but on him it just looks manly. He looks so sexy when he's not smiling, I am having a hard time reconciling this person sitting in front of me to the cute, boyish guy I was talking to earlier.
