Long and unorganized ranting about TBP 2. That’s literally it.
I didn’t really like or hate TBP 2 but I feel like when people complain about it, they complain WRONG.
“Why was The Grabber supernatural?” Because Finney and Gwen are supernatural. And also it’s mentioned in the first movie that he can literally hear the phone and just ignores it because he doesn’t want to—and then at the end he hears them all while he’s being killed. He was supernatural from the start.
There’s plenty of things to gripe about though. And I kind of wish it focused on Finn more. Sure, yes, Gwen was also supernatural and special and she also went through trauma and stuff… but it wasn’t fucking about her??
She could’ve still had her moment, but I would’ve prefered if it was centered around Finn and her having a moment instead of centered around her. I get Finn wasn’t blameless and Gwen had issues and feelings too but they made it seem like she was the overall victim of all of it and not THE BOY WHO GOT KIDNAPPED.
“You smoke too fucking much!” “Bitch I got kidnapped, raped, killed a man, and talked to 5 dead kids including my best friend?? You should be THANKING me for not being worse.”
And Ernesto was just.. there. No reason to be there at all other than love interest and “haha Finn is protective older brother!” GO AWAY.
Also the way that they seemed to ‘redeem’ Terrence way too easily pissed me off. That guy abused his two kids for years and was an alcoholic asshole. He’s LUCKY he got to survive at all. He should’ve met the same fate as The Grabber.
I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care I don’t care kill him.
I also get that the whole idea behind The Grabber going after Gwen was because he knew it would hurt Finn but… The Grabber’s demographic was underage boys. Not girls. So I mean—I’m 50/50 on that. On one hand, I understand the reasoning but on the other.. it doesn’t really fit.
And once again.. why was Ernesto there?? FUCK, why didn’t they make Ernesto the target? Then Finn would still have the chance to do the whole bullshit “protective big brother” thing (ew) while also having to grapple with the fact that he can’t stand looking at Ernesto because he looks too much like Robin while ALSO having to save Ernesto from the guy who killed his brother—which just worsens Finn’s trauma because he would feel guilt if he let another kid die, let alone someone his sister was close to, and even worse the BROTHER OF HIS DEAD BEST FRIEND.
He’d never be able to live with himself if both Arellano’s died, he’d feel so sick and he’d talk to Robin saying “I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you and I’m sorry I didn’t save your brother either” and he’d be sick and miserable and he’d feel bad he couldn’t save the one good thing in Gwen’s life either and he’d feel like he had this death curse surrounding him now and he couldn’t do anything right and
I SHOULD’VE BEEN THE ONE WHO WROTE THE MOVIE.
All that needs to be done is to recenter it on Finn, change the focus of killing Gwen to killing Ernesto, and then I don’t know.. get rid of The Grabber’s weird fucking ice skating thing.
I don’t know why that happened. So many things could’ve happened, why was him ice skating part of it? Why did that need to happen? So much gimmicky bullshit I’m so fucking lost.
Like I said—I don’t hate or love the movie. It’s just kinda… there. Similar to Ernesto.
But it did show Finn watching Night Flight so obviously NOT EVERYTHING WAS BAD. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
