@baelavelsims
Boredom took him more quickly then he expected. With a displeased grumble as he awoke in the small creaky bed the morning after he moved in, he found himself staring at the ceiling wondering what the hell to do.
With a billowing sigh, the young man grunted and pulled himself into a sitting position. Scratching his disheveled hair, he peered around the small room dispassionately. At least in the country he had more than enough time to train and study, not like there was anything better to do.
Shuffling out of his room and into the kitchen, Jesse poured himself a bowl of cold cereal and mused over how the hell to pass the next month. The more he mused however, the more annoyed he became. Grumbling all the more, the blonde practically threw his bowl into the sink before pulling open the front door.
Resting at the top of the stairs off of the porch was a neatly rolled up newspaper. With a half shrug, he snatched up the paper and settled himself on the bench that was nestled between the trees at the side of the cabin.
Karaoke bar. A single nightclub. Something was better than nothing, right?
The before and after.
It was settled. He was going to pummel Gabriel when he saw him next.
Saying that he'd been thrown a curve ball would have been the biggest understatement he could manage.
Only a week ago he had been nestled happily in his modest Bridgeport apartment. He was a day away from his graduation ceremony and he already had plans for a get together with the friends who remained.
While the winter hadn't been easy, what with him finding out Jett was sleeping with Lisa and that she was just playing the both of them for fools. Elspeth dropped out after she found out she was pregnant with Felix's kid and the ginger was never quite the same. There was no time to hang out with friends anymore, all of his time and energy was spent pouring over his music if he wasn't with Elspeth.
Out of the large group he began the school year with, it was really only him, Jett, and Noah left at graduation. Regardless, though, he was happy.
His days were spent with them while his nights were dominated by his newfound skills as a thief.
Gabriel Lawson and Aspen Cross were two men who took him under wing. Gabriel, the man who had snatched up his precious money all those months ago in that beat up car and then later his apartment, primarily did the field training. Aspen, on the other hand, taught him logistics, and strategy. Everything from how to discreetly find a fence and how to properly case a job.
The training was rigorous when layered atop of school, but it was training and a life he enjoyed. Everything was going as he could hope, but it was shattered when he spoke to Aspen and Gabriel about universities.
Some authorities had found the location of their fence, they told him. They were questioning everyone who had ever been seen in the location and were carefully tracing all of the goods inside the warehouse. Several of which would lead directly back to the trio.
"We all have to get out of town and we have to do it tonight."
"But I have graduation--"
Aspen shook his head, his lips curled into a frown. "You'll have your diploma regardless, you just won't have the ceremony. However, all that will be for naught if they manage to sniff out our trail."
"What about Jett and Noah? I need to tell them--"
"Nothing." Gabriel jumped in, cutting off the teen once again as he leaned his chair onto it's back two legs. "You can't tell them anything. I have a cabin lined up in a town in the mountains. You'll have to worry about the power and shit but... it's a house and it's safe." The brunette lifted his shoulder in a light shrug.
"So I leave the only city I know and toss a middle finger up to the two people who mean something to me and isolate in some cabin? I wanted to get a degree, Gabriel! I almost have enough save up from the jobs to pay for tuition."
"Give it a month, Jess. Give us a month. Asp and I will come to Hidden Springs and give you the go ahead."
"We don't want to do this to you. Sadly it's as we explained early on in your training. This work has consequences and at times they're severe. This is one of those times."
And now here he was standing in front of this small cabin with only a two trunks for his belongings. He had to release Sam in hope the bird would be alright without him.
Jesse shook his head and swore beneath his breath. This blew.
So. My sims game seems to hate me horribly.
After the corruption of my save with Alex and me missing Jesse in general, I decided I'm going to bring my original teen back. However, he won't be a teen any longer.
Since I was only about 10 days (with his life span on epic) to YA, I'm going to start him there. A post will follow with the story that will explain what will have happened to him during that time skip and then it'll hopefully be back to regular postings.
Alex was fairly certain that it was the food that initially kept the canine around his humble camp. With the teen's skill with fishing, there was always more than enough for the both of them. Within a week the poor dog's ribs were no longer poking painfully from his sides.
The redhead crawled from his tent on the seventh morning and his gaze met the dog who was in his same spot right in front of it. He lightly wagged his tail, his head cocking to the side as his tongue lolled from his mouth.
"You're not going anywhere are you, bud?" Alex questioned quietly, a smile on his lips as he grimaced as a raindrop hit him on the top of the head. The teen eyed the sky suspiciously before he held open the flap of the tent. "C'mere boy."
The dog's head canted in the opposite direction before he slowly rose to his feet. His tail continued its slow wag as he approached the tent. He gave the boy another look before he moved past Alex and flopped down on the sleeping bag within. His tail wagged with more enthusiasm as Alex laid down beside him.
"I think I'll call you Gideon after a cousin of mine. You have the same goofy look."
With a bark and a lick to Alex's face it was settled. The dog's name was Gideon and he wasn't going anywhere.
So good news and bad news.
Bad news: My saved game for Alex kept freezing at the exact same time and place each time I tried to reload the file. The camera won't respond, the sims don't move. However, the animations keep going (the fire, plumbob rotation, etc). I kept it running for around an hour to see if it was just lagging really bad and still nothing. I tried [ resetsim * ] and I already play with Twallan's Overwatch. Sooooo... I gave up on that save file.
Good news: I was only roughly three days into my game and the change from Sunlit tides to Isle Paradiso won't be a problem. Slight continuity issues may arise with the few earlier posts I did, but I don't really see them affecting anything. Here's hoping a change in the neighborhood will make things better!
Better news: Alex now has prime fishing right in his backyard.
Even better news: Houseboat.
The second night, Alex happily prepared his catch of catfish for his meal. Humming a quiet ditty, the teen carefully struck his flint until the sparks caught on the dried sticks he had arranged within a stone circle he had constructed.
Cutting the fish into thick pieces with his knife, he slid them onto a thin stick that he had specifically stripped of bark so it could be used as a skewer. Once satisfied, he settled onto his folding chair and held the fish over the crackling fire.
He couldn't contain the pride that laced his features as he watches the flames slowly cook his catch. However, he wasn't given much time to pat himself on the back for his accomplishments as rustling captured his attention.
Sitting straight up, his hand went to the knife strapped to his belt. Alex's breath caught in his throat as he stared at the spot of the noise. The rustling continued before a soft whimper traveled along the light breeze. A moment later a dog with his head held low and tail slowly wagging emerged from the bushes.
Alex relaxed, his smile returning, as the creature approached his tail wagging with a bit more enthusiasm as the teen held out his loosely closed fist.
The dog sniffed the offered limb before nuzzling his nose into his fingers and as Alex loosened his hand, into his palm.
"Are you hungry, boy?" The redhead canted his head to the side as he looked over the dog before him as he tugged his fish skewer from the flames and removed a small piece of the fish. The dog was dirty and without tags, his skin was painfully tight around it's sides, he looked like he hadn't had a proper meal in sometime. "Here you go."
Tossing the half-cooked fish to the ground, the dog looked up at Alex with a cock of his head before he approached and wasted no time in gobbling it down greedily.
Alex laughed quietly as he rested his skewer back in the flames. "Don't worry, boy. I have enough for both of us." As if understanding his words, the pup patiently sat down and watched the fish, his tail lightly thumping the ground.
One hour later, twenty simoleons lighter and with a used fishing pole in hand, the teen settled himself at one of the freshwater pools that was in town. Success here meant no money spent for dinner. With nothing but patience and optimism, it was here that Alex spent his first afternoon.
My very successful remake of Gabriel and Aspen. It took me a bit of time to get them right and while I don't have exactly the same CC in a few places, they're recognizable which makes me happy.
With luck they should be making their own appearance in Sunlit Tides, seeing as they'll be moving on from Bridgeport quite soon.
The sun was beating down on him fiercely as he finished setting up his makeshift camp. Wiping his brow with the back of his hand, the green-eyed boy viewed his handiwork with pride and pleasure. It definitely wasn't fancy or even really all that comfortable living, but it was all his.
Crawling into his tent, the teen grabbed his backpack and tugged out his swimming shorts. He needed figure out where things were in this town, but that didn't mean he couldn't go for a quick swim.
Quickly peeling off his jeans and shirt, he dressed for the water and raced across dirt path and down the hill to where the ocean waited.
A grin spread fully over his lips as he drew in a deep breath. Salt stung his senses and coated his skin as he took a few steps into the foaming surf.
With a whoop of glee, Alex threw himself into the clear water with no care in the world.
The day had come and now here he was, in Sunlit Tides.
A week prior, the seventeen year old Alexander O'Neal had set out from his foster home in Riverview in search of the crystal blue waters that called to him from the bright screen of the television and the glossy pages of magazines.
Alex missed the days of his youth when his parents were still around, when he'd spend hours upon hours on the rocking deck of a deep sea fishing boat. He missed the sea spray on his face and the scent of salt heavy in the air.
When his father passed in a boating accident and his mother fell apart in grief, the ten year old had been quickly gathered up by his aunt who took only a day to deposit him in the care of the government.
Despite his losses, Alex wasn't what someone would call troubled. He wept for his parents, but grief didn't rule him. He remained happy and enthusiastic about life, though something felt missing now that the crash of waves was no longer at his doorstep.
His foster parents were good to him. He was treated like a true member of their family and Alex adored them for their kindness, but that part that needed the ocean near wasn't sated by the river that snaked through the quiet town they lived in.
Seven years of allowances and two years of summer jobs later, he had enough to slip away from his quiet existence and catch a bus to the coastal town.
With a note explaining where he went and all his savings going into a tent and bike, a head full of fanciful dreams, and only 100 simoleons to his name, Alex was ready for his new life.
Just some Gabriel until I figure out what I'm doing with my game. I'm going to see about remaking him and Aspen, since I hadn't done much with them in the game (So the loss of the save doesn't affect them much).
I have most of my CC sorted out thanks to a friend of mine. So with luck I should have a new story and new main sim figured out before the night is out! It's highly likely that I'll be starting the challenge over that gave me Jesse in the first place.
I am still alive! I promise.
I ended up moving to a new state last month and quite obviously that move has taken up a lot of my spare time. Job hunting, unpacking, and playing with our new puppy has been quite the handful.
I just reinstalled TS3 back onto my computer which, sadly, didn't fully make it in the move. A new case, motherboard, graphics card, and a fresh reinstall of my OS, my computer is back up in working order.
However, with that reinstall of my OS, all of my sims content was wiped. I no longer have any of my saves, the sim files, or my CC. I'm going to be working on getting most of these back, but I'm strongly considering beginning anew with a new sim and a new neighborhood.
I'll likely be taking aspects of Jesse's story and implementing them again, but I haven't decided which aspects as of yet.
I look forward though to begin playing my sims again. :D
