New music means I’m back at it again with the Sleep Token lyric drawings! This series keeps encouraging me to draw stuff I’m not used to, which has been a lot of fun. Plus it keeps my calligraphy nibs from getting rusty lol

Hi it’s been six months, have humble offering of some film photography I did like six years ago and didn’t get developed until just now

When I’m not making a huge mess with a million different gouache colors, I’ve been really enjoying using more limited, neutral palettes as a starting point, especially brown, black, and white. I think my favorite things on these particular spreads are the dried fig leaf on the first one and the random crane head on the last!

Side note - the quote on the first page is an excerpt from “Starlings in Winter” by Mary Oliver, and the one on the second page is a line from “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty

I’m so thankful for all the positive responses people have had to this series! The Sleep Token fandom here on tumblr is honestly so wholesome. As a fun lil peek behind the scenes, here are all the original sketches right out of my sketchbook, before they got edited into something actually presentable lol. I think my favorite part is the random question mark at the end of the text for Gods that had to get fixed in post 😅

(Also yes, the lighting in my living room really is that aggressively yellow, it’s cozy irl but awful in photos)

Aaaand the Sleep Token lyrics drawings come to a close! Ending it with one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite songs of theirs. Ignore the fact that it’s a bunch of Eden imagery for a song that’s actually off TPWBYT lol. This series was so much fun, maybe I’ll revisit it sometime!

I’m almost done with this lyrics drawing series! I have one more planned and I think I’ll wrap it up there, at least for now. This challenge has really helped me get out of an art rut and explore new styles, which I needed desperately. Now I’m just trying to decide if a tarot series would be too ambitious 😬

The perfect start to a perfect war / Putting down the roses, picking up the sword

Took a little break while I was visiting family, but we’re back at it again with the Sleep Token lyrics doodles! I really wasn’t feeling this one on paper, but once I got it into Procreate I managed to tweak it into something I’m decently happy with. I’m definitely getting more comfortable with the hand lettering tho!!

Switched up the style a little bit for this one, but the Sleep Token lyrics drawings continue! This was fun but I think I’m gonna go back to the more minimal/linocut inspired style I’ve been using for the others.
