@baker-alex-blog
I passed myself off as a guest yesterday and got free surf lessons. It was pretty cool.
I gotta take lessons from your book.
“First day here and I’ve already embarrassed myself”
“Story of my life, mate.”
“Look at this cute little ring I bought today, I almost bought a matching set so that we could be twins.”
“Man, I was so looking forward to having a ring twin.”
movie night || levi & alex
“If only 1986 were the year of the rat, it’d all make sense now,” Levi laughed. “A movie now really? Wouldn’t that just be a complete rip-off of Ratatouille then, even if I were the real-life version? But if someone were going to play me in the movie, he’d have to be handsome devil like myself,” he joked, smirking. He grabbed a couple of the Oreos from the coffee table. It was nice to have a night like this with Alex where they could pig out, joke around. It was different than seeing each other around during work. “Oh, the days before Netflix, what a dreadful time they were. Does anyone actually miss Blockbuster? I’m very thankful I never thought about going into the movie rental business ,” he commented with a laugh, “Or I’d probably only be able to afford off-brand Cheez-Its now.”
Levi nodded. “Okay, okay, your meringue was pretty good already, but you would have been lost without me, Greene. Just admit it. I was your knight in shining armor in culinary school,” he teased back, nudging her with his elbow. He tapped on the mousepad to play The Lion King, so it’d play in the background as they talked – one of the many pros of re-watching a movie. He shrugged, smiling. “Hey, I don’t know. Just call me a British nanny kind of guy,” he joked, “…on second thought, that sounds more like some strange fetish.” He shook his head. “I’m sure you’d be the prettiest One Direction member then,” he teased. Levi’s smile faded a little upon seeing Alex’s reaction. “Come on now, what do you have against her? She’s a sweetheart. And maybe…we’re dating…I honestly don’t know for certain. We’ve kept things loose, I guess,” he replied. But Levi knew exactly what he was too afraid to bring up, and perhaps she was too.
“Ah, that would just put everything together, wouldn’t it?” She teased. Alex never really understood the whole animals and years thing, but the idea of that made her chuckle. “Well, this version will have movie me, so like, it’s gotta be better.” She laughed. “Oh, yeah sure. you keep telling yourself that, mister.” Alex teased, messing up his hair as she did. “Urgh, Blockbuster. So much effort involved with that!” She laughed, grabbing a handful of popcorn. “I mean with this, you just click a button and it’s there!” She smiled. “Oh no, only the branded stuff for us in our fancy Hawaiian jobs .”
“If that is how you wanna play, go ahead.” Alex laughed but she knew fine well that he was right. Without him, she would have probably given up on baking and headed to work at the club full time. He got her so far and it was just enough to get her through the last years without him. She was thankful that he managed to tell her about this place, it was like she was back home when she ws with him. “You just keep those fetishes to yourself, that I don’t need to know.” She laughed. “Nah, that would be you.” She laughed, smiling towards him. “I just look more like a teenage boy than you. You’re like a proper man with facial hair and stuff.” She laughed. “I never said I had anything against her!” Alex remarked. “You don’t if you are dating? Well, I would fix that. Loose seems to be our thing.” She said, not thinking about it.
“Actually really bad, I love twix bars.”
“Oh yeah. You sound very attached to your twix bars.”
“I’d love to stop by,” he beamed. “You should teach me how to bake my own, so I won’t bother you everyday.”
“Well, if you stop by everyday at least I have a customer.” She laughed. “But if you have time I can teach you.”
Ivy cheered with her before licking, drinking, and sucking along side her, giggling as she happily finished the shot. “Fuck, it’s wonderful, ain’t it?” she ginned. “So tell me about yourself?” she asked, ordering them another round.
“Sure is.” Alex said, already in ordering around round because it was just what she needed right now. “There isn’t much to tell. Grew up in Manchester, left there was I was 18 to head for New York, went to study there and when that was over I came here.” She laughed. “I’m sure your story is a lot better.”
“Lime ‘n’ salt, let’s get 'er done!” she cheered, shimming on the bar stool next to Alex. Ivy beamed as the shots were placed in front of them. “Cheers, babe!”
“Hell yeah!” Alex cheered as she got a hold of the shot. “Cheers to you.” She smiled before taking the three things before her. “God, I forgot how much I love that.”
“Did you at least save a twix bar when you took the machine?”
“That depends, how much do you want a twix bar?” She teased.
“Then that’s a definite yes,” he chuckled. “Any chance this friend is you?”
“Maybe.” Alex laughed, pushing her lips together. “What was your first clue?” She asked with a laugh.
“Who said I was ever going to be famous?” He smiled at his younger sister. “I could… uh, buy you some new clothes. Your style’s lacking a bit.”
“Me, I did.” Alex said with a smile plastered across her face. “Uh,” She scoffed, lightly hitting him across the arm. “You are so rude.”

Sid held out both of her arms, looking at all the tattoos. Most of them she got while she had been in Chicago, but there were a couple she had since Detroit. It wasn’t cheap either, but fuck it, it was just how she chose to spend her salary, ever since she actually had been earning a salary for once. “Thanks,” she laughed, “I do my best to scare the everyday soccer mom. Rather have people ‘up in my arm business’ than judging me from afar, I guess,”
“That’s a very good way to look at it.” Alex smiled at the girl. “I always wanted a tattoo but I still don’t know what I want.” Alex chuckled. She had a million ideas but never one that really stuck with her.
“Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been recorded for doing something stupid.” He laughed as he pulled a shirt out of his bag. “Free food? I got a job as a waiter, I’m sure I can get the chef to cook you something.”
“I know, I’m wait until your famous then I am going to release them all.” She teased as she began to help him. “I’m a baker and my best friend is a chef, food is covered for me. Try again, bro.”
“You think you’re a comedian now hm? Very funny. I’m good, thank you though.” he ruffled his hair with a nervous laugh.
“Yeah, I do. That’s the dream career goal.” Alex chuckled. “I’m glad to hear that. No permanent damage?”
movie night || levi & alex
Levi laughed and put his hands up jokingly. “You caught me. There’s a rat of many talents underneath my hat. He can cook, style hair, and file my taxes,” he teased, “Make millions? Are you sure it just won’t turn into the headline of an Onion article?” He took a sip from his drink and leaned against Alex to look at the list of movies on Netflix. “Doesn’t Netflix still have that DVD mail service option still? Does anyone actually use that anymore? I think I used to have that way back. God, losing one of those DVDs was such a pain,” he commented. “No complaints here, these and other junk food were the majority of my diet way back before chef life became a thing. But seriously, I don’t even know how to go about trying to make a Cheez-It? Oh, food processing company, teach me your ways,” he joked.
He shook his head. “Losing? Pssh, you’re in denial, Greene. Besides, who was the one who taught you how to perfect your meringue ?” he teased back. “I’m just a bit more of a Mary Poppins fan. Can you blame a guy for liking one singing movie with children over another singing movie with children?” he laughed, “Good thing we chose culinary school versus I don’t know, trying to join…One Direction.” It suddenly dawned on Levi when Alex asked that he never actually told her about Emma and the multiple dates he had with her. But part of him knew why he might have avoided the topic before, for what it might open up. “I think I must have mentioned her at least once before. I swear, I did. But she’s…Emma, works in the daycare, is a fan of my coconut curry soup. We’ve kind of been seeing each other…sorta.”
“I knew it. There was always something fishy about you.. or, well.. ratty.” She laughed, looking over at him. “Nope. It’s gonna sweep the nation. Who do you think we can get you to play in the movie?” Alex teased. She was so used to makng herself at home around him, she didn’t think twice about it anymore. “Probably, but I don’t think anyone actually uses that?” She said, knowing she didn’t and she had heard of no one ever buying the DVD from Netflix. “I know, or if they all wound up in the wrong box it was just a big annoyance.” Alex said with a sigh. “I was majority of my diet too, before your chef thing came into my life.” She teased. But Alex always knew she had to watch her figure. The club bosses would notice if she gain so much as a pound of weight and she couldn’t have that. “Maybe one day I’ll take you on a trip there.” She teased.
“Hey, my meringue was pretty darn good before you, okay. Yyou just helped a little. Stop trying to credit my success to you!” She teased, giving him a small push. “So, singing Nazis aren’t you thing? You more into the singing British nannies?” She asked. “And bad cockney accents?” She added with a smirk on her face. “You know me, I’ll watch anything with Julie Andrews.” She said. “You’re too old to be one of them. At least I still look like a 18 year old boy.” She laughed when he mentioned One Direction. “Oh, I think I’ve met her.” Alex said. “So, you guys are like... dating?” She asked, keeping her eyes on the screen to avoid looking at Levi. She didn’t know why, but it still felt... odd.
